GOOD BYE 2008

A challenging year indeed...as I am still in office clearing hurdles... I pray for better new year 2009 and most importantly to have a blessed new year in God's grace. Btw, the first English message received from on lady friend which touches me;
"2008 going, 2009 dawning but God is always the same yesterday, today and
forever. Therefore fix our eyes on Him (Hebrew 12: 1-3)"
So Goodbye 2008, Happy Celebrating New Beginning of 2009. Let's grow wiser & patience in facing challenges and most of all, be happy and do make people around us to be happy.

Christmas Is A True Gift

Hohoho...Many SMS sent/received for the last 24 hours all due to all our great joy for Christmas is here again (the phone cos are going to be smiling all the way to the bank). For the next 13 days of Christmas, we are going to celebrate with gratitude for God's love for us.

May the spirit of Christmas prepares us well in facing the much trumpetted financial woes ahead of us and may we all sail smoothly and our country will always be in peace and save through the worst of financial crisis better than 97. Also make us a better person to share and appreciate what we have and continue passing on the goodness of what we have received to our neighbours beside our loved ones.

Merry Christmas..Happy Birthday Jesus...

Christmas Caroling With Legion Of Mary

This year, we have started the Christmas carol on 17th Dec bringing good news and joy to the world. We have only covered 9 houses of which two of the houses are actually children's homes. The photo below was taken during the singing at Salvation Army (sorry it is blurr as I was also singing at the moment of taking..hehehe).

This annual event is part of our reaching out to community for Mater Misericordae (Mother of Mercy) Praesidium of Legion of Mary. To be specific the houses that we go are those suffered emotionally, physical or spiritual. This is to give assurance and support especially during this time of peace and joy.

Beside singing out at the top of our voice, we have also brought gifts for the children and Santa was flown in to do the honour..hehehe..

Next photo is displaying my president, Raymond presenting a farewell gift to Zoey, our outgoing Treasurer (whom will be leaving for WM to undergo intensive training as the new police inspector...ahem...yes, Madam...)

It is always wonderful to be with my praesidium brothers and sisters when we walked the journey of Christ in companionship, doing our part for our creator and serving him. However, I must confess, it is also a great challenge as the devils are always there to confuse and distract our focus in carrying out the works of the Lord. My bros & sis always remind that the more you want to be with the Lord, the devils will put in even greater effort to distract you. So, always be aware and pray a lot to give stronger faith to ward off such temptations. In fact, it is true especially when we are doing good things.

We have another round on this Sunday at 12th mile Kuching/Serian road Orphanage home where 110 kids are waiting for a group of 30 of us to bring them wonder news...

Hohoho...Santa is here soon...

The Mood Is Building Up...

Yesterday, I brought my family, my mother in law and two nieces to Boulevard and observed that the crowd is there. Many seem to already into the higher gear of preparing for their year end buyings, getting new clothing, gifts etc. This weekend, I believe it will be the peak...knowing that Christmas is just another 6 days to go, Chinese Winter Festival will be on this Monday and foremost our yearend cum Christmas gathering will be on this Saturday...don't you agree that the mood is reading on the way up...

Then at the kopitiam, the number is bigger than usual (in my heart, I am asking myself whether how true will recession be coming in ?). These crowd are likely those who had just finished shopping where stop for a refueling before heading home.

I didn't buy anything except colour papers and pens which is for our X'mas gathering tomorrow. Nevertheless, I was tempted to buy a new slack but decided not to...why? Guess ?

My RM (aka Rachel Moses) have been persuading me to buy their Christmas gifts. I have not prepared personally but was not interested to buy those displayed there as the quality is quite run down (that is why they have a 20% discount). Rachel has been asking for gameboy whilst Moses is all for Ben10 series.

Time is running out very soon and I need to work something fast for them before the celebration is over. I must admit admit that Christmas Gift giving is a treasure of my heart as my parents though do not give us expensive gifts but the event of giving gift during Christmas really remained sweet memories.

What we (my brothers/sister) have prepared during our time was we will put up stokings (of course we put up the big one...the football stoking) at the window knobs of our living room and pray together in front of our lighted Christmas tree to God for blessing and Santa to grant our wish. Then we will go to bed very early at around 9pm. Waking up very early the next morning, we will find present/gift in the stoking. At that time, we really believe that Santa had came physically to place the gifts for us and in fact it is, through the form of our parents.

Yes, without the grace of God, we will not be able to accept and practice the goodness of gift giving. A gift does not need to be expensive but meaningful even a sms will suffice, if we send with sincere care and concern (A hug is a good gift to reassure another and oneself of the care and support for one another...)

This is a time of sharing, bonding and reflection for the graces, blessings that we have experienced and reaching to everyone we care and love. May we enjoy this season with stronger faith, love, peace and harmony together with family, friends and neighbours. Pass on the light of Christmas till it warmth all around us...

Rudolph..Here We Go Again ! Ho ! Ho ! Ho !

In two weeks time, we shall be celebrating Chirst's birthday and in Kuching here, Heroes, Ivy & myself decided to organise a season ending get-together on coming 20th at Kenny Rogers, The Spring Shopping Mall at 12.30pm.

It is the 2nd time such a gathering being held on family basis after the first one at my home last year. Well, we have combined the reunion gathering for Kuching friends on this gathering too,..killing 2 birds with one throw.

Foods will be on AA basis. On activities, a gift exchange for kids will be organised. Every parents will have to prepare gifts worth not less than RM15.00 for the exchange between kids. A season ending cake cutting (A fee of RM8.00 per family will be collected for the buying of the cake) shall also take place plus family wish writing, singing...etc etc.

I have sent out notices and so far 5 families have confirmed. We hope more will confirm before the closing date at 6.oopm on 12/12/2008 so that we make appropriate arrangement.

Cheers !

What Do You Like To Hear ?

Frankly, the songs that I do not prefer to hear at this moment is the GongXiFaCai but just can help it when you are in Kenyalang Commercial Centre in Kuching though it is still very much about 60 days to go. You bet...they are already playing the songs as to push the sales of the CNY VCD/DVD and could not care for Christmas songs etc although I saw the decoration offered are still very much Christmas settings. Hmm...confuse ?

However, the real fact is we will be into the last month of the year in the next few days, so time is running real fast. I have been promoting/asking few takers to organise our usual year end get together event but it seems they are non-commital or keep low profile leh. I hope very very soon, they will inform me that on certain date in December, please get ready your potluck for our get together....on yes ! (my ears are big but now are longer due to the waiting period I guess..)

Aha...how about the much waiting 21st Reunion SHS Alumni 88-90 ? It was a hit in the last round when we drum all the way...but this time round, things have been very quiet, no one seems to bother to ask although I have already few requests from the teachers when we last met, remember Mdm Wong, Mdm Hii, Mr. Lopez to name a few whom had yet to attend any of our past reunion events...

Heroes/Mr. Tee, apa dah jadi ? Pat, why so quiet ? Ivy, just busy with new boyfriend ? Joe, are the Hongkies coming again ? Ted, where are you, hello ? Am I singing solo here ? I thought it should have been a choir singing ?

I have a suggestion....as the immediate past chairman, we let Pat to check on his successor, boleh..tak ? or let Mr. Tee, who is THE contact King of our time...I was told by someone previously...(just can't recall who that was or probably in one of the emails)

Last but not least, the song that I like to hear now, is...from my boss....this year bonus shall be the same if not better ? If nothing, I will still give you.....do you like it also ? hehehe

Moses' 5th Birthday Cake

I think very soon, we could just put in our real photo on the cake and eat it !

A Gift Grom HSBC

This has been quite sometime already but my heart just felt strong to put few words on record.

On the actual day, HSBC was the first to wish me.."Happy Birthday"...this year via sms at 8.00 a.m sharp and then they have also mailed me a great birthday card and a gift voucher to redeem at Starbuck as display above. I could not help but indeed very impress and appreciate on their highest quality of services in reaching out to appreciate their good customers. The setting, timing and coordination of this appreciation deserves many claps when not only they are the only one who meet this standard of services whilst many others have been trying to emulate.

Last but not least, this is not an advertisement for them but it is my sincere admiration of their services that I would like to put on record. In corporate line, they have made the difference.
Thank You.

Tsunami Has Yet To Settle Down

This morning report in Yahoo, it reads...US financial turmoil continues to worsen and now US Government may need more than US3 trillion to bail out companies (wonder...where do they have the money ? as we understand that they are the biggest borrower in the world and owing a lot of debt from other countries). The money continues to count. The latest recepient would be the automaker industry as it was learnt that GM is under a lot of stress.

Dowjones suffers 3rd straight losses with last night clocked in negative more than 350 points and I have just realised that the bank interest rate in US is now only 1% after they had a latest cut in late October. Experts said that they may go for zero if situation warrants (OMG...what is going on ?).

Luckily China declares over US580 billion stimulus plans in recent days and it did the wonder with rising of major Asia bourses indexes. However, how long will it last as rumours was saying...what are those stimulus packages actually ? Is it for real ? Or can it really stand off against US financial effects.

At local end, we had Tun Dr. M advises that to handle this mammoth financial issues, we need International cooperations and he does not have the confidence in Obama to settle this turmoil alone...what more to Najib, our next PM.

Government is going forth with new approval of option to reduce contribution to EPF by 3% from employees is to aim in encouraging spending as to spur up the local economy. Does it really help ? To certain extent yes but majority will not opt for the 3% reduction as the amount involved is little (RM2,000 x 3% = RM60.00 per month) and it is better to keep in a retirement fund. That is probably why the government has given auto default that for those who does not want the 3% cut, they have to fill up the form. Well, through this action, a lot of us may find inconvenience to fill up the form and thus we join many others to automatically have our EPF contribution reduced by 3%. That is a great strategy by the government, isn't it ?

Nevertheless, it may be good for those who are discipline enough, using that extra money to invest themself in more profitable investment vehicle as I think (I hope not) EPF dividend for this year may be reduced downward (last year, it was 5%) in view of the economic downturn.

I pray for Mahathir-like economic management style (in our government) will help yet another saving for Malaysia from this devastating effects of financial rolling of US Financial Tsunami...

Obama's Win Gives Hope

For the last two days, I have been reading a lot congratulatory messages about the 44th US President from a lot of people especially the leaders of Malaysian politics. I am asking myself, how sincere are their statement about the importance of picking leader of great competence ? against race/religion ? (biggest statement of all..is anyone can become PM ! kukukukuk)

Will it happen in Malaysia context in near future ? May be only when our country celebrates its 300th years of independence like US.

Nevertheless, I believe the hope is stronger and brighter and hopefully we have competent leader to lead our country through this political and financial turmoil in shortest time.

How far can we go ?

Of late, I met a lot of old people still working hard and I meant those really old and less fortunate still going around to sell some business. Is this because they are not prepared earlier to retire well or because certain unfortunate situation ?

We will be old one day...just another 20 years from now, have we prepared for our retirement ? or are we going to continue working hard till we are very old ?

We may be earning quite a decent pay or money for now...and we need to plan well for our retirement fund, we will waste our funds. Before planning, we must have aim or goal...what is the goal ? How much do we want for our retirement fund ? (I remember, I have proudly shout for RM3m in excess of my liability at the age of 55 in one of the financial planning seminar some years back. hehehe...)

Recently, one of my girlfriends reminded me of foreign land investment. A tempting with its guarantee return and capital beside currency returns. Then on last Friday, my corporate client informed me about going all out for the Bursa Saham when it dipped to 600points....I can be assured of securing 100% return in 2-3 years time when it rebounds.

Hello...Nikkei just dipped to 26 years low and the siren of recession is ever resounding...but our national leaders are still in state of denial (Negara kita masih imun kepada krisis kewangan...)..luckily we are celebrating Deepavali today, thus Bursa is closed for the day. Tomorrow, do prepare to hear for the worst.

I have been hearing a lot news reminded us to prepare for the worst especially after the new year. Whatever it is, in Chinese sayings...there is always opportunity in crisis. We must not be sucked in by the negativity but prepare ourself to suck the best side of worst. Think about conserving your $$ for better investment tools....

The Game has started !

Heroes & I have just booked the airticket to KK and this marked the starting of the conquering acts and accomplishing of our teenage dream. Yeap, we want to start the ball rolling and we are committed to make it a reality. At least 3 others had verbally said yes...and we are just waiting for their firm answer which I expect in the next 24 hours.

We have no reason to delay our fitness training anymore...and we have to start it right away as it only 6 months from the expedition date....a new blog will be created soon to track our preparation..

Three Stooges At Rest

A great time indeed as three of my friends are resting due to intoxication whilst I am still "yam shen" the fourth bottle of Balenvine whiskey with others. Everyone was enjoying themself as they unwind after hectic day and I don't mind to have drinking session once a while although I know it is health destroying agent as we may also get stuck with it as be considered a hardcore drinker @ drunkard.

Have a nice weekend.

Sarawak Squash Closed - Kuching Leg 2008

I am proud to announce that an overweight player managed to secure 3rd placing in this friendly event for Men under 40 instead of a competitive nature as frankly I considered the event has only give a small light to the success of its objective in drawing interest of casual players especially those above aged 30 years old.

The feat was achieved after winning my opening match and then lose out to eventual Champion before winning the crucial 3rd placing match against my usual playing partner. For sure, the mood and situation is totally different when we are playing in competitive mode as compared to usual relax sweating games.

The Champion is a 20 years chap, ex-state player and the 2nd position is a coach aged 19 years old. With our aged running near to duplication as compared to them, it is a consolation for this achievement. hehehe...

In total only 10 players were in this event, showing the level of interest of what the organiser intended to promote. However, it was a totally different scenario for kids where overwhelming participation was registered. Our usual court at the club turn to a bazaar fair on the competition days.

For sure, I am looking forward for more of such events in near future as to continue to promote healthy living, friendship and fellowship of new mates as we progress in life. The next stop is in Miri, 31 Oct -2nd Nov 2008....

Snippets - Imitating Anwar

At least for now, it seems that the hoo-hah about going to Bali, Macau, Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai,...or any other parts of the world is not going to happen in the near future at least for 2008. Nobody seems to echo further to make the trip happen.

Expenses is rising, international economics tumbling is affecting the mind and eventually its rippling will come to the Malaysian shore...it is definitely worrying rather than focusing our mind on going holidays (Nikkei just had worst tumbling in 20 years, Jakarta suspend its market today after felling touched more than 10%...whatelse is coming ?).

For the last hour, I have been surfing the airlines websites to evaluate the latest pricing and the outcome is not promising as prices has gone up (memanglah...if tidak book awal awal).

However, I did manage to book the holiday package for both my kids for their annual trip back to Sibu with their grandmother-in-law this coming December. The price is still reasonable...to and fro RM350 for both and plus my own ticket for escorting them...RM90.00.

Don't worry.....we must keep positive mindset, our dream trip will surely happen one day very very soon...please keep saving for the day to come.

*** Anyone interested to sign up the Mount Kinabalu Quest in May 2009 ? Captain is Mr. Tee. Further reference you may surf his blog by just enjoying the picture of the mighty mountain with a word of challenge on it with no further illustration on how he is going to do it ?

Foochow Birthday's Eggs

It has been years, since I last tasted this type of birthday egg, a fried hard boiled egg with "mee sua" (of course it is better if the mee sua is done in chicken soup)...it is delicious...and you can see my nephew already walloping the egg (BTW...there is another type served for happy occasions ...it is soaked in red...I dun know what ingredient is that).

What occasion is that for ?

It is my dad's birthday..which falls on 2nd of October. Frankly, it was not planned but somehow, I recalled his birthdate on the night before whilst waiting for my wife who was buying some food at the famous Sibu pasar malam during my last short trip back to Sibu. So, I informed my eldest brother and we decided to organise a birthday dinner.

Ann Na & Ann Ann (my nephews - William's kids) presented their personally drawn birthday cards for their grandpa. A big smile can be observed on my dad's face.

We all sang happy birthday song (in two versions) to my dad and had a sumptuos dinner together. My dad and mum were indeed very happy and joyful.

In fact, Rachel & Moses had already surprised their grandpa in the morning when they wished him "Happy Birthday".

I am planning one for my mum this coming December, I guess it will be in Kuching when they will be here attending my sister's bro-in-law's wedding.

Did You Ever Buy ?

This was drawn in yesterday session of CASH Result. Anyone won ? If I bought just RM1,000, I could have struck RM2,500,000.00 ! (na shi wa u chi ba ban....this song lingering in the mind)

With luck...it is such an easy way to become millionaire..believe it ? Yes, it is just so true....can get enough money to settle a lot of things and help a lot of people in need

Buy a lottery ticket (not this 4D) only costs RM3.30, you will stand a chance to it. A chance...ok.., we just do not know when but if the luck is there...you will get it ! That is why many still loyally buy the lottery ticket as the hope is always there....it will just come...

In a real me...I seldom buy 4D or lottery tickets...just do not have the urge of every Wed, Sat & Sunday not like my parents who are quite addicted to buy 4D. My mum said it is helping her maintain her working brains...remembering numbers and combinations especially maths.

Some of my friends are also very attracted to this number game. If you play it properly within your means...I guess it is an exciting game. But please refrain from seeking medium or praying to trees etc for such numbering, you may be betting with your life to the devils...

Anyone like to share their experience of winning the big one ??? or tips of putting up the numbers or interpretation of dreams or experiences...?

Opportunities Ahead

About two and a half years ago, I have invested in direct share market via a friend's account. It was a good investment and I have earned some handsome profit (to my definition) where I have purchased a parabolic which I have enjoyed till today the fruit of it. Till a year ago, I have opened up my own share account finally and also have been quite active in investing my money but have temporarily stop investing further in the market since 6 months ago as the price of shares has been dropping after the Chinese New Year. I told myself to cease further activities till the price has dropped to rock bottom and also prevent from burning all my reserves...chialat ! (BTW, I have also forgot my online password after long time did not use...so now also cannot trade online...hehehe).

Today, as the biggest news of financial melt down in US with several big giant banks has dropped to their knees and some have declared bankrupt appears....the question of whether I should consider jumping in to buy the future opportunities ? like the one in 1997 (which I miss the boat sadly) to earn the capital gains once overall recovery in the next 3-5 years ? Genting now is 4+, Mayban is 6+ (in 1997, I learned it was down to 3+) An opportunity not to be missed without thorough consideration ? Guys....look down and up, in and out...consider deeply and hopefully we could get the breakthrough through this one big gain !

Hey...before wrapping up your decision...please be careful on the traps and loopholes....we may trap ourself through our ignorance as the situation know may not be rock rock bottom...we must make sure our financial resources are all protected as the situation of what is happening in US may get worst and the rippling effects may just get us (Malaysian) blown off especially when our political stability it at its worst of history.

I have just watched "money not enough 2" dvd this evening...the pain of shortage of money may get one crazy and heartless. It was a touching movie especially how realistic the world of today can be...when I did mention in the comment section of my friend's blog on what can be possible silently cooking in the person's mind which is very critical in forming the killer action which may harm others or selfishly protect themself for their own good and at the expense of others even among family, the avoidance of responsibility is inevitable. It is scary and is serve as reminder.

Whatever in future, I pray all of us will always realise and work towards the goodness in harmony and peaceful relationship in building better homes and community at large.

Well, before moving on with your life, think of the opportunities ahead of us....be positive in life and sieze the day with confidence ! You are a Champion ! Yes ! Semangat Yakin Yes !

Just do not miss the boat without consideration...yeah.

Thankful For Life

Successful ones always advise in their speeches, writings or testimonials to appreciate life and in all we have live. I agree totally and always reminded myself of the thanksgiving to what I have been blessed.

We must appreciate life and those obstacles in life is part and parcel of the perfection journey where everyone will need to go through. Positive ones will always look for solutions to their obstacles rather than rattlings on difficulties or problems without even try to resolve them.

"If we practise what the successful ones practices, we will eventually taste the same success" says one of the successful leader. 'If we have not achieve the success, it may be that we have not follow or practise the exact method....do not lose your faith, be patience and definitely we will reach the shore"...he added.

Wherever I am down, I keep reminding myself how lucky I am when compared to many other..i.e probably 95% others in the world whom many may have not live through their first 5 years of life or having gone through much painful life without having the opportunity to write this blog.

As I journey to Kuching airport this morning, I saw a group of general workers walking slowly to their construction site @ Four Seasons Hotel which is scheduled to complete/open by Dec 2008 - another project by TPK, I start to imagine what sort of life they are going through. A nearer reflection will be the kongsi house just in front of my house. It is a contrast of two world probably.

I am wary of the increasing higher cost of living with satisfaction of oneself. One needs to constantly improve their performances to enable greater returns in their investment of time. It may also turn into a pressure in coping up with the challenges in life. However, I believe with the sense of appreciation in us, it may lessen the piling pressure on this expectation as it give consolation.

My friend, appreciation is a start to our charity and blossom to success. From this, we may value more on life as knowingly it is shorter by seconds as we live on. Therefore, always try to make every moment worthwhile especially with loved ones. Cheers !

Crying In The Open

Why do we cry ? We cry because our mind could not process sensibly our sad, angry, frustration or happy emotion in that moment of time ?

In the last few weeks, I have few ladies crying in front of me (not my wife and definitely not because I bully or taking advantage) because they felt great pressure when overheard negative feedbacks from peers beside great challenges in delivering their performance. In fact over the years, I have faced with such situation and now is definitely much more steady as to handle such situation and I could still remember my great mentor shared with me years back when he keeps a box of tissues eveready on his table just for such ocassion.

I told them that tears is a precious drop of water and they must strenghten themself in moving forward. Breakdown the issue upfront and always open up in discussion with close peers to get moral support, guides and develop options.

I do cry (in fact quite a lot when I was kid)...when I am sad or could not get what I could obtain or deliver or felt pain after a fall or injuries. People says it is good for washing your eyes and clear your clog emotion (may be that is why I still maintain my 20/20 vision..hehehe). As I matured, I am able to control this crying switch better.

When was the last time you shed your tears ?

Matta Fair is on 5th - 7th September

I think this be the last big promotion for the year 2008. Those who have not made up their mind to where they are going during these few days, will probably have to bear higher cost of airfare from now till April 2009.

A quick check on the promotion by AirAsia & MAS, the fare to my favourite places is attractive. Even going back to Sibu in Nov 2008 is cheap as we can get zero fare.

Few weeks back, there were talks among friends to consider a vacation in China@Beijing. It seems that with the escalation of costs, the talk has fizzled out. Bottomline as one of the friends pointed out, time is needed to accumulate funds. It is true, we need to have those extra ringgits at least RM3,000 comfortably for a decent trip and those preferred extra services may need to allocate another RM1,000 (so, I hope my friends have already started to save RM500 last month for the intending trip). I think it is more towards a mind game in managing the financial demand when one wish to spent a big sum for a good holiday. The big question is always...we will ask our inner self whether it is worthwhile ?

I must say...it is definitely worthwhile...money spent can be earned back but time spent can only be reflected in memories. Therefore, to be able to spent your time on good holiday especially with friends is invaluable moments or I must say it is a blessing that we received from the Almighty.

So...anyone still interested to have 2009 Reunion in Beijing @ China ? Importantly, don't miss this last opportunity and just check with your favourite travel agent for better deals for your holidays. You may not go...but at least give yourself a chance to consider the options..who knows...you will still make the trip in the end !

Be Alert On Our Electricity Bill

Our government recently announced new incentive under the Budget 2009 for the lower income group whereby for those consume monthly electricity below RM20, all charges shall be waived. So, anyone want to install extra meter to ensure your charges is below RM20 ? getting the waiver !

Before considering the above, I myself have just realised of an "irresponsible act" from the service provider whereby they have been charging my monthly usage for the past 5 years based on estimated basis. What is the discrepancy ? Well, I had only realised it after moving to my new house when I discovered the high charges of RM100+ although I have moved out in May 2008. My wife has actually told me two months earlier but as usual, I do not take immediate action for what Iconsider is small matter. Then last week, I went back to my old house to get my mails and the latest copy of the electricity bill was among the other mails. I remember what my wife had said and I quickly went to the meter to check the accuracy of the reading...

OMG...my meter reads only 9600 points but the estimate has already run into near 11,000 points. As expected, I can feel my blood pressure is rising quite rapidly (as my neck start to feel the heat) ....almost immediately I started to press my handphone to call SESCO.

Tooo.toooo..then....a sweet voice was answering my call...(my blood pressure cool off a bit)...I started to inform her about my discovery...and she is so warm and confidently tell me that she will immediately update my bill and the changes shall be reflected in my next month bill. That's it ! Such a straightforward reply from her and just because of her nice handling and assurance of the amendment, I do not grumble further and put down the phone.

However, deep in my heart..I know this is just not right and I have been paying the extra charges based on the estimates. So, if there are 30,000 customers experience like what I have....the service provider could collect the extra charges and earn on the interests for free ! we may be talking about millions of ringgit here.

Few days later, I have also conveyed to Ah Too & Mr. Tee during our usual game...they said...normal...lah ! That is why every other month, they will call up SESCO to give them the actual reading...to ensure they do not get over charged !

Well, folks....don't be like me...start checking your electricity meter to ensure the accuracy and don't give free interests to this sucker (it is just too easy for them to suck people) !

Today Is My 13th Anniversary...Life In My Industry

Yes, today is great day indeed as I reflect my first day working in an insurance company. Can you imagine, I left my house at 7.00 a.m just to reach office early but only reach home at 3.00 a.m the next morning ? My girlfriend was so worry for me and keep calling on my house phone so many times (until my housemates also start to worry) beside had to ride her bike from BBB to my rented house in Serdang just to check my whereabout (those days I do not own any handphone...so cannot be reachable so easily).

What had actually happened between 7.00 a.m to 3.00 a.m.? Anyone want to guess ?

Sarawak's 45th Independence Day

First, let me declare that I do not keep these flags like one of my girlfriends did with her school badges. I was trying to get a Sarawak flag and I find this photo very unique as providing history learning on all the flags flown in our State since 1848. I bet many of us may not know such deep history or may have forgotten (Do you realise or is there any fengshui significance on the current colour of the flag with the Brooke's dynasty ?)

I was actually awake yet again due to discomfort of my tummies but later felt that it is more towards my body stress due a overdue massage session....sore feeling here and there especially had few tight squash games on last Saturday and yesterday.

Hmm...after browsing online news, I thought about the big celebration this Sunday...our Merdeka Day...I have not prepared anything for it as yet. Further, I keep trying to recall when was my last time singing the National Anthem and State Anthem. Alamak !...can't remember how to sing the State Anthem ??? (I know I was one of the most glaring voice during the school assembly...seriously, anyone of you remember ? :) ).

Hai, memang malu ! Thanks to our IT connecting ability...nah....within seconds...I got the lyrics...Ibu Pertiwiku

Sarawak Tanah Airku

Negeriku Tanah Airku Sarawak

Engkaulah tanah pusakaku

Tanah tumpah darahku Ibu pertiwiku
Rakyat hidup mesra dan bahagia

Damai muhibah sentiasa

Bersatu Berusaha Berbakti

Untuk Sarawak kucintai
Sarawak dalam Malaysia

Aman makmur Rahmat Tuhan Maha Esa

Kekallah Sarawak bertuah

Teras perjuangan rakyat

Berjaya berdaulat

Can sing ? (I can now....automatic...lah....hehehe). I will sing on this Sunday together with my kids in celebrating the birth of our country/state. hoohah..

Cigarette Butts

I have many times like to put up this blog as I just do not like the way most of the smokers litter around while they enjoy their puffing and especially when they just throw out their cigarette butt from their vehicle while driving and you are right behind them observing their act.

I have just observed one this morning ! (Buds, when was the last one you see ? Shaking your heads ? or butts ? )

Yes, it is their right and choice to smoke but please do respect for others for their right also.

My prayer for them is hopefully they would realise not only they are killing the mother nature by littering around, they are also killing their family and neighbours through their second hand smoke though they have their own right to kill themself slowly.

I have many smoker friends/customers/associates and only handful of them respect others even few do collect their butt in a special box.

To smokers....I appeal to you to respect your neighbour whilst you smoke, do not litter, do not smoke in air-con room/place. If you have done that, I respect you.

Kampua Mee increases again !

Look carefully....

Another store just opposite to the above store...btw...kolok mee also increased...

1997 - a plate is RM1.80
2007 - a plate is RM2.20
mid 2008 - a plate is RM2.80 (now is RM3.00)....it is a 67% increase over the last 11 years (average 6% annually) and it is not stopping..

So, it this trend continues...a straight line basis...every 10 years, we can expect RM1.80 increase...so by 2038 (the day we reach 57 years old)..it shall be RM6.60 per plate ! May be this is still okay...as we could probably be richer by that time...with EPF funds...hehehe...but then again...how about when fresh graduates are still only earning RM2,000 per month for starter ??? Can they survived ??

Best Buddies

Is it not that the above photo gave us a lot pondering about friendship...best buddies in and around our life ?

Buddy whom you can talk about almost anything and trusting that he or she will keep the secret only for himself/herself. A person who could share your burden at the least have a listening ear...

A buddy is more than just a friend. To some, it may be even a closer definition than to a brother or sister ? but definitely not closer than your husband or wife (I hope I do not start a domestic enquiry over this definition).

I have received a message over email sometime ago, it said..."A true buddies is like angels lifting you up or helping you to remember how to fly your wings when they are down..."

In my very first writing, I did mention about friend and buddy...listing them down and value them individually....so how many buddies that you have in your life so far ??

Don't confess here...just count it in your pure heart, after that pray for each one of them...okie ! (I hope I am one of them...hehehe)

Real Sweat

With a new racket, I was eager to test it to the max since the day it was return to me but I was only able to try it out yesterday. It is indeed a better racket than the older brother. More power and control felt throughout the game with Rich.

This is also the first the two brothers met each other on court. Their length is the same except the netting area differs. The younger chap seems to have longer and bigger spacing on netting.

It was a hard game though we have only played two sets (A Draw-one each). In fact, I have not played a game since a month ago. Judging from the photo I took, you would agree indeed I would need a lot of fast games to improve my stamina and sharpen my rusty skills...

Luckily, Mr. Tee is not free to join the game....if not the earlier prophecy shall be or not fulfilled...hehehe

It's a Miracle ! I Believe

Before anyone trying to ask me why am I blogging at this hour, I wish to declare that I have a stomache and already went twice to the loos. This is probably due to the good food I had this evening...after few days under green scrutiny (this is norm as when after too long not having oily food, suddenly you have a big sum....your stomache will get upset and the other reason is heaty situation). Well, I am not going to talk about this and totally not my intention to mention this except to explain why I am up blogging....

I have a real story to share where I have personally heard from her personal experience yesterday evening during our Legion of Mary's 16th Annual Gathering with 30 others stand witnessing.

Sister Adrianna Tiong is a 66 years old Catholic nun who soon after promoted as Sister General of local Convent was diagnosed with few complication of health in late 2006; kidney function is about 20%, heart problems with main artery blocked 100%, few others swollen and lung accumulated with waters. Doctor has strongly advised for immediate heart surgery in order to ensure her life can be preserved but due to her weak kidney, the doctors need to cure the kidney situation. Over that period, Sr. Adrianna was going through very difficult moments with a weak heart, heavy breathing and tiredness but she has considered not to go for heart surgery as she felt that she is already old and had lived long enough...thus leaving to God for his arrangement.

Few months back, Bob Canton (a wellknown Catholic spiritual leader from US) has organised a 3 days spiritual rally at Blessed Sacrament Church (at BDC). It was a good opportunity for many people in Kuching to experience the spiritual healing as many has witnessed in Bob's previous visit to Kuching few years back. A friend of Sr. Adrianna had called (persuaded) Sr to come back from Sibu to join this good opportunity. Sr. Adrianna finally managed to fly back and join in the second day of the rally. There was nothing experienced on the first day of attending. But on the 2nd day (3rd day of the rally), I think towards the end of the rally, Bob shared that he received a word of knowledge that God wants to give a person new heart, the person who suffer blocked arteries and a lot of fluid containment. Almost immediately Sr. Adrianna jump out to claim for the healing. As Bob prayed over her, she can feel the heat coming from Bob's palms and she laid down in the spirit. She was experiencing heavy breathing and a slight pain on the left chest. At that moment of time, there were 4 Emmause prayer members were praying deeply (3 ladies on the left side and 1 guy on the right side of Sr) and Bob was praying in tougue. Slowly, she felt her breathing is smoother and smoother. One of the Emmause lady member who was praying beside Sr. Adrianna shared that she had a vision witnessing that God had done a heart surgery on Sr. Adrianna, giving her a new heart.

From that moment onwards, Sr. Adrianna experienced stronger and strengthen as she does not felt tired anymore and later when she went for medical checkups, her health condition has recovered and normal. The doctor was amazed ! Praise the Lord ! Alleluia ! I have personally hear this from her tonight and I can experience her strength, joy and love for the Lord who
has given her a new heart. It was really a fanstastic moment to share !

Nothing is impossible, all is possible with the Almighty. We do all the possible and let our God carry out the impossible. In his time, he will bless us abundantly and we only need to keep a faithful acts to his will.

Hmmm..I need to resume my sleep liao...my stomach still a bit pain (feeling heaty) but I think I can bear with it....Good night (oops morning now)...

Lost & Found

My 2 days old racket has been found !

My darling was the prize winner and well, I will reward her a nice gift (at least RM100). I am so happy to receive her call this morning. Before she disclose her finding, she cleverly requested me to reaffirm my reward offer. I did and she said the racket was left at our usual car washing outlet at Jalan Ellis. The boss who knew us well inform my wife of this...

Hmm,...I could not believe it as it was not possible to have left it there ??? I was assured by my guest that he saw my racket in the boot earlier ?

Yes, I did send my car to cleaning outlet in that particular Friday afternoon but in the evening I am picking up my guest and he confirmed that it is there. Actually, I was about to buy a new Prince racket worth RM290.00 (weight 120gm) and I have to double check in KL this evening before deciding before the weekend.

Well, I am so happy but also wary that I need to inform my friends about the joy that I have this moment...so I called and inform Heroes and then my guest, just to keep him alert (although he never check on the lost since my last checking with him two weeks back).

Last but not least, thank you for all your prayers. (Never give up in your prayers...)

Debate

Tonight there is a live telecast of debate over the increase of petrol between two leaders from different political parties. I do not watch as I do not subscribe to Astro or having the usual tv antenna to capture two channels. I believe it can be very fiery and interesting.

Reflecting on debate, I have only joined in one competition (in Form 5..i think) whereby we won 3rd prize...but I could remember when was it. It is definitely a special art to perform especially when we are trying to deflect and defuse the attacks from the opposition and those statements made must be valid and convincing with clear uttering of words. Emotion must be in check always as to ensure it does not run wild. Deduction of points will be made if one got mad and out of context.

Presenting one's opinion in clear and right manner are a good point of communication. Good communicating skills will win many favours from listeners whether they are friends or foes. If we are able to speak clearly with art and skill, one can win many hearts and solve many misunderstanding.

In negotiating terms and contracts, we need the art and skill deeply to present our case and attract our customer to understand and support our cause.

It is disheartening when we fail to communicate our ideas clearly or at times we do face challenges of expressing our views in direct and clear manners due to certain unwarranted cirscumtances.

Over years, I believe we must always have the courage to speak up and also to accept well of others' opinion. A win-win situation must be the aim for long term relationship although in business, it can be very "mean" with no hard feelings.

Going back to the live telecast, can anyone share with me how was last night's debate ?

Bitter Root

If anyone can recalled what I have mentioned in one of my blogs where I said I was reading a book written by a Christian Preacher, Joel Osteen. Umm...that was probably about 4 months back...and I am still reading it.

Well, this morning (actually yesterday morning as now it is already 3.00a.m)...I have managed to finish reading another 2 chapters and left with probably 5 more chapters....it is a fast reading for my standard in 30 minutes. These two chapters have touches much of most of our current affairs in the company or family . Let me summarise the gist of the learning here in my own words;

a) We must respect the person in the authority (on the chair) although he or she is not doing what we like. We must work in the favour of the Lord and work with good faith and action. Our God is a fair God and he will pay back all we have done and all those who have done to him. Time will tell as we may not see it in time but it will come in time.

b) We must always appreciate our wife, children and family no matter how. We ought to spend quality time with them before they are gone or we are perished first. All the little things that they have done, appreciate them. Refrain from condemning them for mistakes but highlight the reason why you are not happy with their actions. Communicate well and share sincerely, and the relationship will be much strengthen. If you could not share all with them, then who can you share ?

c) Do not get even with your enemies but let God does the wonder. Be patience and forgive them like Jesus forgave all his oppressors but God raise him up and sit him next to him. It is not easy but if we are willing to make the first step, God is willing to be walk with us through the journey.

d) A bitter root cannot bear good fruit. What is rotten inside and if not being cure, whatever cured externally will not be lasting. If there is anger inside us, spit it out and make peace with the person or situation. If there are person we have wrong, seek forgiveness. Once this is clear, we will experience real peace and we will bear good fruits.

e) Do not soak ourself in negativities for long.... (suffering, anger, rejection, demotivation is understandable especially when going through sad tragic moments) we must stand up, let go and move on. God knows our pain but the choice is always ours to make. If we choose life, then let there be life...if we choose condemnation, we will doom ourself.

Lead a faithful life as the journey to salvation is a real testing before the final rewards. The choice is ours....Have a nice weekend.

Lost Notice

"Head Liquidmetal 140 Flexipoint"

I am hereby pleased to put up this notice to inform that anyone who are able to find and return the above squash racket, a handsome reward shall be readily served.

***
The last time I saw my 2 days old new racket was on Friday evening when I opened my Matrix car booth as my guest from outstation puts in his bag. I have actually had also newly strung string & grip and had been hopeful to try it out with Mr. Tee that evening but due to assignment given, I had to serve my guest and forgo the games.

Indeed the price of serving is huge considering this racket was my most pricey investment since my first time having a racket (Dunlop Graphite back in 1990 - my mum actually approved the buying after I had earned my salary whilst working a coffee boy during school break)..(sigh...)

From a Sherlock Holmes' mind, I would think that the racket may have actually "slipped" out when my guest opened up the booth when I sent him back to his relative's house at Satok (behind the wet market). The racket is in its original slim cover and I have only put at the side (near the edge of the booth). In fact earlier, I have the 6th feeling that it may easily drop out if one is not careful when opening and closing the door but I suppress that feeling as I believe one's aware and sensitive and such will not happen. It could not be due to theft as my new big orange sport bag is still intact in the booth.

Well, what can I say ? For sure, I will not let this shortcoming to influence my mental, spiritual and physical growth though it is wasted as much resources is involved. I have learned (or reminders) another chapter great lesson....

LIFE

(This is a contribution story from my wife who had received it from her friend and I thought it is worthwhile to share with all of you)

A boy was born to a couple after eleven years of marriage. They were a loving couple and the boy was the gem of their eyes. When the boy was around two years old, one morning the husband saw a medicine bottle open. He was late for office so he asked his wife to cap the bottle and keep it in the cupboard. His wife, preoccupied in the kitchen totally forgot the matter. The boy saw the bottle and playfully went to the bottle fascinated by its color and drank it all. It happened to be a poisonous medicine meant for adults in small dosages. When the child collapsed the mother hurried him to the hospital, where he died. The mother was stunned. She was terrified how to face her husband. When the distraught father came to the hospital and saw the dead child, he looked at his wife and uttered just five words.

QUESTIONS :
1. What were the five words ?
2. What is the implication of this story?

Be a channel of happiness bringing joy to others...though the road is tough, not smooth but I believe the seeds of happiness that you are going to spread will bring peace and harmony to many and they will appreciate your love !

The Roar of the Jungle

Joe, I am glad that you are missing me although I have thought only pretty lads will miss me.

Well, I actually too engross with my company's biggest event for the agency last weekend and in fact I was hooked up since 3 weeks ago when you may still remember I have entertained two 'hot' ladies...from there on every weekend was a hectic day for me beside phone calls to request this and that...and I nearly have to dismantled my old Astro parabolic (at my old house) yesterday evening just because my big boss wish to watch Euro 2000 at 2.45am at our hottest resort (now)...Damai Puri...(hey...indeed a great resort, it was my first time since the new owner took over !) Luckily, we managed to convince the hotel to get one for us. Phew !

Not only staying awake into late nights, I have broke another personal record by going to and fro Damai 3x in 4 hours...as to lead my guest back to the hotel.

Last night, we had our Gala Dinner with the theme " Roar of the Jungle". Indeed a sweet virgin, hotty night with tantalizing moments as we drunk ourself into the wonderland. Few cried though they are drunk (I dun know why ??) and few kissed each others...probably too touch with the great moments that we had.

Believe or not...few had even undressed themself !!! and run to the beach to have a hot swim (I can now imagine and appreciate how the "Jaws" influence on young kids).

BTW, the photo I have taken is a bit blur because I was also high...when taking this photo :)...a traditional Iban dance by our two top agents. Memang ada gaya..leh..!

Beers, whiskey and Red wines are all over the place. Screaming voices and shouts of the jungle really make us released a lot of the pressure in our inner self...that is why probably some cried uncontrollably. hehehe...

Hey guess what....our Kuching ecomony was richer by about RM250,000.00 by the group of 120 visitors from West Malaysia and 5% was probably sucked by our Dalian/Sichuan/Hubei friends...oh yes...also Liaoning too !

Something Is Very Wrong Here

After reading the front page of two leading newspaper locally, I am worried on why our PM alllow to split the salary payment to twice monthly and also allow government staff to do part time job to enable them to earn extras to cover the increasing cost ?
Am I hearing a confused leader or my mind is not open to progress ?

All these actions are to pacify the drastic impact of fuel hike and people's frustration.

Further, he also had quickly assured that no more increase of fuel hike this year....let's wait and see how far this gimmick will go ?

Selamat Ari Gawai

Hope it is not too late to wish my Dayak friends a Happy Gawai in my own make outfit...yes ! Coming 14 June 2008, Sarawak will again host the National Gawai Celebration....and hope our PM will announce more fairness to Sarawak...

State of Preparedness

Immediately, I shall be paying an extra RM10.00 for Rachel's busfare in view of the petrol increase (it is an awful increase, considering the distance from Chung Hua School No. 3 to Padungan Kindergarten is just less than 2km...if inclusive of 1 big round about).

Over in business, my CEO has already issued a statement on extra care in business travelling expenses, electricity comsumption and etc as if these factors are not controlled at hand, we may suffer average 20% increase to our operating structure. However, he has fell short of saying an adjustment of salary to curb the increase (hai...a, that would probably be the last or never action...till year end this year).

It seems that many transportation associations have openly issued statement to increase their charges with immediate effect and they are not concern about the Government's warning as they said..it is due to survival situation. This could be true, when business operators has been competing for pricing over the years and the increase of an important factor in their operation model has cause deep distortion intheir business. Well, we cannot deny, few may just want to take the opportunity to adjust their business structure although they have been profiting a lot.

I have read a news urging the Government to increase the royalty percentage to Sarawak, an oil producing state especially when our public transportation in the state are well underdeveloped. Instead of increasing the royalty percentage, Federal Government can increase the development fund commensurate with the contribution from our fertile state (I wonder who has the figure in hand ? whether we have already received the fair share from Federal Government...if we have, why we are still much behind other states like Penang, Selangor, Johor - non-oil producing state). How far is our Government particularly the State had planned for our future and what we can really see beyond 2014 (the year, Malaysia expected to become a net importer country)? We need to ask serius questions to our elected Government on their future thinking and from their answers, we will decide their future in 2011 !

Privately, this situation that we are in now...is sooner or later and the question is whether what is our own's the state of preparedness in embracing the future...not only having increase petrol price but the rippling effects of inflation and with growing kids soon we need an big education fund to support through their graduation ?

As Malaysian particularly Sarawakian, we need to contribute on our development thinking on how best to contribute to our country. Many bright brains may have chosen abroad to contribute but as to preserve our Malaysian existence, we (those still around slogging on) need to work in unison to ensure we have brighter future for our new Malaysian generation especially our kids and grandies.

Friday 6 June 2008

Petrol Price Increase Again as Expected !

Alamak ! It is a RM0.78 increase...the worst in Malaysia history and further it shall be on a monthly adjustment depeding on the actual world prices. Government advises that it shall only give RM0.30 subsidy per litre against the market price. So, my friends, hold on to your senses and prepare for the worst....it may just cross RM3.50 per litre in near future !

To cushion the shock, our good government has highlighted that we are still cheaper to Singapore ??? but higher than Indonesia ??? (remember Singapore is non-oil producing country). From the feedbacks, unfortunately, we are not earning the Singapore salary income structure ???

Government keep advising us to change our lifestyle to suit the increase of petrol and also expecting the rippling effect to cause other commodities orservices to increase.

What are the choices that we can have ? (beside voting for right party to manage the good governance)

Harden Muscles

Can you believe... ? Today is the 3rd day, I have played squash in a row...over 12 games...a record for the last 5 years since the last time I have played so that often. Thanks to the long holiday since Saturday and also playing partners...Mr. Tee, Mr. Too & Mr Rich.

Though my muscles seems has tighten up and just nice for 120 minutes massage but then, I felt great ! Hooha !

Hey, tomorrow...I shall play again at 3.00pm and seriously, I hope to make this a habit of playing at least twice a week...not so much of weight issue but more towards mental detox...plus need to recall back my strokes... (aioy...can't believe myself thay I could not even win over young kids...Form 1 boy).

Mr. Tee has already preparing Bryan for his dream by sending him to squash clinics (he is only 8 years old) and he is encouraging me to do the same for Rachel. It is very tempting and I do really hope this could happen soon...at least that will also drive me to be discipline enough to meet my twice a week playing sessions(splitting myself with corporate duties..mind boggling). Well, accordingly to Andy (the coach), young chap will normally pick up the skills within 2 years. Through his tutelage, he has brought up few state players and they are also good in their academic (if one is concern about their child's education).

Hey, what do you think ?

*****

This is also my 98th post on this blog....yes ! I had started the blog since 17th March 2007 and it has attracted a traffic from 43 countries with 2267 entries (minus about 10% of my own surfing), hey...still have 2000 entries (in deep contrast...imagine Tun Dr. M's blog has attracted 1m traffic just within 1 month !..I am impressed !)...looking forward for the 100th ! soon...

Hard To Have Nice Dinner

Yesterday, I had a hard time to find place for nice dinner as every good place seems to be mob by diners. Every year during this time, I know it is always hard to get a place especially if you want to have special dining experience, we cannot have the best place, the 2nd best is good enough.

So, I managed to get a table at the 2nd favourite stall at top spot seafood centre and it was at the very corner. To order, it took me 10 minutes as there are a lot of people cramping at the small place. Well, managed to have my order done but was nicely warned by the waitress that I need to be patience and may have to wait quite a long while. Looking at the sea of people, I said I could understand but try to be faster...and so, I quickly order side dishes from satay stall just to fill up my crounching stomach (grrrhhh sound).

True enough, my first dish (Butter prawn) was only out after 30 minutes and by the time the 5th dish it was already 90 minutes gone. By that time, my friends and I decided that we need to go and shall just have the last dish cancelled (manicai egg). As expected, when I try to pay the bill, it took me another 10 minutes waiting and further need to recall the same waitress to retrieve my order as there were just too many order sheets.

Hey, even the drinks operator have to collect our cups back when we order the 2nd glass as she nicely tell us that they are running out of cups.

Hmmm...The taukeh must be very happy that night....at least business increased by 100% as the really top stall was close for business due to Gawai Festive Holiday.

(You must be curious...with whom I was having this dinner....my wife was away on business trip and my kids are happily at my in-law's house...I am sure it is not too hard for you to find the answer in my blog...yeahahaha..)

West Malaysian Visitors

Today, I have two lady visitors who specially flew down to survey the tourist attraction sites in Kuching. I was only to meet them at lunch as their programme has been carefully lined by the tour agent from the touch down at the airport and back to departure hall to KL the next day.

They are expert as they are entrusted to evaluate and report back to the committee of what is the best place for makan, play and visiting. It seems as local, I am ignorant to their questions as probably I am not particular of the places of tourist locally. Lunch at Mango Tree (my 3rd time I think) is superb as of course no. 1, it is free and secondly they presented grand dishes (don't know how much).

To be host to 2 person is easy but when to a group of 100 people (yup..we are going to have 110 people coming...pumping in RM200k into Kuching economy), it really needs expert to carefully plan out the programme, if not...there will be chaotic situation. When they asked me about..the best place for laksa..my answer would be at kopi hui but definitely it cannot cater more than 20 people at one time...so, I have to agree with them to go for Mdm Tang's place, which could cater at least 50 people at one time and needed to spread over to neighbouring food cafe.

For seafood dinner...we can have it at carpark but need to book half of the place as normally it is pack with customers at evening.

For spa, it is also headache as limited places especially when quality is a must.

Frankly, in my observation, tourism quality in Kuching is still lagging behind other cities in Malaysia although our State government has done a lot to it but still when comparing to the information centre and places of attractions, we are still much behind, dont you think so ? or we are just being ignorant local.

Coming back to my visitors, I am supposed to join them tasting food at ABC but I could not make it as I need to visit a newly baptised brother as my Legion's weekly assignment. Tomorrow, they will be at Damai Puri surveying the latest offer by the new management. I have not been there since the last old management by Holiday Inn. Market feedback is very good and hot with new spa facililty and so forth....
Mmm..will keep all posted when I am there soon !

Increasing Cost of Dining Out

Do you realise the cost of eating out is getting more expensive ? Yes...definitely.

My usual "kaya balls" favourites is now costing extra 20 cents. Kampua is now all across RM2.50 per plate. Fried mee is at RM3.50.

Yesterday, I bought 2 packets of 1 litre soya bean drinks from Ta Kiong Emporium at The Spring, Kuching. The price is cheap at only RM1.80 per packet as I compared to my usual kopitiam drink (Teh-C peng) which costs RM1.60, if 5 layers special it will be RM2.00. In term of quantity ratio is 4 soya bean to 1 teh-C peng.

Mathematically, I am spending RM4.80 for usual drink per day...and for a 30 days period, I have to pay RM144.00 and plus 50% for treating friends..I would need to fork up RM216.00 just for drinks. So, if I drink at home more often, I could save RM1.15 per glass and RM103.50 per month !

Recently, I read an article in the Strait Times (of course many of you didn't read as it is a main stream media...) whereby it said about cutting down eating out which will definitely cut down our expenses in the light of fuel rising costs. It is very true as eating at home definitely is cheaper as when we buy and cook at home, we have already cut down 30% profit taking by the food operators. In addition, we will be able to ensure quality and quantity at our will.

Hey, just the last weekend alone, I have been spending about RM30 per dining out with my family of four...that will consitute to RM150 (as we do not have lunch on Sunday). If eating in, I could have save at least RM45.00 and a month, I will save RM180.00 just for the weekends.

"Sikit sikit lama lama jadi bukit"...rightly will give us the motivation of such savings. One year will lead to RM2,160.00 and ten years...it is RM21,600.00. Mind us, this is just a linear saving of the monetary value. If we work it out on exponentially...the amount is huge !

If we planned our eating places and take note of the prices, I am sure we will be able to at least save extra for another dining out...

However, if your earnings is more than "segunung tinggi"...forget about what I shared just now...it does not matter at all ! Hhehehe

A Very Hot Week

After weeks of receiving afternoon rains, it has been dry week since Monday. It is very hot out in the open, the sky is very clear and though I do not measure it with a termometer, I believe it is around 33-34 degree C. Staying in the office is a real luxury, having to enjoy the cooling airconditioning but for my nature of work, I have to move around even if it is melting outside.

I was hoping it very much to rain this afternoon as I would not need to water my newly planted pearl grass costing RM2,500.00 (at least not as much as somebody's German shepherd...but it is fluke). But it didn't, so I have to water them just now in the dark. I had overheard in the cafe that the haze is coming back..very soon but I do not have the feel,...may be it will but hopefully it will not be like the one we had in 1997/98.

Hey, I do noticed that my car porch has a lot of dust though I just wash it last Sunday afternoon (exceptionally lot)...a sign of hazy days ahead ?...

I have moved my house...

Till a week ago, I am still very much into putting the last touch to my new haven but now I am sitting in my dining hall putting up this blog...what a busy task as I believe all would agree especially when I have stayed in my previous house for six years with a wife and 2 kids. Still, I have 15-20% of my home contents still laying at the "old" house.

Moving, carrying, transporting, rearrangement had been the default mode for the last 7 days especially the first 3 days. The pain in my both legs is much more than after playing a grueling 5 sets of squash (during younger days of course)...Sleeping is a luxury for the past 7 days as I have been waking up at 5.30 a.m eversince 1st May.

Coming to this new neighbourhood, about 15km from city centre...around the same distance as per my previous house except the later is in the West/South of Kuching and the former is at East/South. However, the time taken to travel from my new home to office will take about 25 minutes, longer by slightly 5 minutes as it is quite jam in the early hours around 6.30-8 am. After 8am, it will only take 15 minutes.

Why this neighbourhood ?... the main reason is to be closer with my relatives...as my brother is just about 3 km away and my sister-in-law is only a lane (500m away) in the same negihbourhood (Heroes is staying just across the river, before the bridge...easier to get lift to airport if needed..:) ) Or may be just want to upgrade to a Semi-D from a terrace corner...

******
Hey...as my house is located in Kota Samarahan, near border to Kuching City...so my MP now is Datuk Seri Sulaiman, son of CM instead of Datuk Yong Khoon Seng, both of BN. Need to change my polling address leh...

****

House warming soon ? A question need to be thoroughly thought before answering. However, I will have my legion brothers/sisters to my house for our May Rosary and probably also inviting my parish priest to do the house blessing together sometime this month.

Hey...Still recall that someone reminded me about inviting CM & S to attend...yes, it would wonderful if they can be present...as his son is my MP now...:)

Embracing Change

How far you are ready for change ? Change is inevitable ! and every moment is different unless we stop thinking or breathing but then life will still go on...

My friend, the sooner we embrace change for good...we shall be able to life more meaningfully in this life. Amen.

Hoi...Wrong Type of Lemon

No wonder, I didn't get my desired result..lah ! It's all because I had sucked the wrong type of lemon for the past 2 months. When consulted my colleagues over the matter, she gave me the sample of the real type...as per the one oval look and not the two roundish type...

The oval look is the real local lemon...and tested a slight alkaline as advised by my experience colleague. The other one that I sucked is acidic...provide not the right effects..

So, I will try this one again for the next 3 weeks and by 8/5/2008, I will publish my achievement....(silently...aiming for 8kg reduction in 3 weeks..sshhh !). Wish me luck !

Watch and Control Your Petrol Consumption

I have spent RM443.04 on petrol for my Matrix 1.6 Auto for the month of March and it exceeded my usual estimation of RM300.00. This is probably due to the fact that I do not track exactly by the amount but rather by the number of days since the last pumping of petrol @ 5-6 days.

Few days ago, when I chatted with my customers, they said it is normal as they usually spent RM500 average a month for their 2.0l vehicles. Though I have not being really concern on such spending on petrol since the first day I own a car, but with more responsibilities ahead of me, it is a serious wake up call as I go through my credit card statement, I must scrutinise further to ensure every drop of petrol is well burn.

So, if this is going to be a monthly affair, it is going to be tough ! Those hundred saved can be channelled to my children education funds ! or make my dream comes faster, isn't not ?

With the early warning of high consumption from my friends who had Matrix, I have actually already add special Nano addictives to the petrol which is believed to be able to save my petrol consumption by as much as 23%. I believe it had done so but may be due to my concentration to sales activities lately plus heavy travelling to my new house every afternoon during lunch time, the figure shoot up...

Rumour is great that there will be another increase in the petrol soon...but the rice will increase first ? Well, I can stop eating rice as to slim down but my Matrix must consume petrol to bring me and family around....so with every part/little increase here and there, the total sum of the number will make our financial at real stretch and give pressure to ourself.

Just be wary...I am reminding myself...and also all of you that consume petrol !

Special Function of Mobile Phone

Just got a interesting email from a friend and I thought it is worthwhile to share with all;

4 THINGS YOU PROBABLY NEVER KNEW YOUR MOBILE PHONE COULD DO

There are a few things that can be done in times of grave emergencies. Your mobile phone can actually be a life saver or an emergency tool for survival. Check out the things that you can do with it:

FIRST : EmergencyThe Emergency Number worldwide for Mobile is 112.
If you find yourself out of the coverage area of your mobile; network and there is an emergency, dial 112 and the mobile will search any existing network to establish the emergency number for you, and interestingly this number 112 can be dialed even if the keypad is locked. Try it out.

SECOND : Have you locked your keys in the car?
Does your car have remote keyless entry? This may come in handy someday. Good reason to own a cell phone: If you lock your keys in the car and the spare keys are at home, call someone at home on their mobile phone from your cell phone. Hold your cell phone about a foot from your car door and have the person at your home press the unlock button, holding it near the mobile phone on their end. Your car will unlock. Saves someone from having todrive your keys to you. Distance is no object. You could be hundreds of miles away, and if you can reach someone who has the other "remote" for your car, you can unlock the doors (or the trunk).
Editor's Note: It works fine! We tried it out and it unlocked our car over a mobile phone!"

THIRD : Hidden Battery PowerImagine your mobile battery is very low.
To activate, press the keys *3370# Your mobile will restart with this reserve and the instrument will show a 50% increase in battery. This reserve will get charged when you charge your mobile next time.

FOURTH : How to disable a STOLEN mobile phone?
To check your Mobile phone's serial number, key in the following digits on your phone: * # 0 6 # A 15 digit code will appear on the screen. This number is unique to your handset. Write it down and keep it somewhere safe. When your phone get stolen, you can phone your service provider and give them this code. They will then be able to block your handset so even if the thief changes the SIM card, your phone will be totally useless. You probably won't get your phone back, but at least you know that whoever stole it can't use/sell it either. If everybody does this, there would be no point in people stealing mobile phones.
