A Very Hot Week

After weeks of receiving afternoon rains, it has been dry week since Monday. It is very hot out in the open, the sky is very clear and though I do not measure it with a termometer, I believe it is around 33-34 degree C. Staying in the office is a real luxury, having to enjoy the cooling airconditioning but for my nature of work, I have to move around even if it is melting outside.

I was hoping it very much to rain this afternoon as I would not need to water my newly planted pearl grass costing RM2,500.00 (at least not as much as somebody's German shepherd...but it is fluke). But it didn't, so I have to water them just now in the dark. I had overheard in the cafe that the haze is coming back..very soon but I do not have the feel,...may be it will but hopefully it will not be like the one we had in 1997/98.

Hey, I do noticed that my car porch has a lot of dust though I just wash it last Sunday afternoon (exceptionally lot)...a sign of hazy days ahead ?...

MGB, the weather over here is not much different from the place that you are staying. I sweat like anything just now when I went out for morning breakfast. Luckily by brother didn;t complaint!

I wonder how much you pay so much for the pearl grass. I planted pearl grass also at my backyard 2 months back and it costed me RM60. 2 gunny sacks of pearl grass for RM60. Cheap-lah!!

Joe, actually, for the grass job, I have engaged the contractor to clear the debris (to remove top soil by at least 4 inches) and then to top back the level using best grade soil and a layer of sand before planting the pearl grass.

I have learnt that they need about 8 -9 lorries for the soil and overall it took them about 4 days to complete the job.

They have also issue a guarantee letter that the grass will grow beautifully covering up all the surfaces and they shall maintain it for at least 4-5 months inclusive of weeding.

Heat...oh gosh...the heat...I shower 3 times on normal day!

Talking abt sweat...KNN...I come home to change underpants due overheat today! Little bro is yealing for unbearable humidity. Very tempting to have a 'hair' cut!!!

I met an Indian guy the other day who came from Calcutta. He told me during summer there, the afternoon heat will rise to 40-45 degrees and no soul will be on the street. I think we are getting there very soon due to global warming.

It's getting cooler over here approaching winter next month. Temperature dropping everyday. 10 degree now and maximum of 15 degree. I turned on heater for my little girl who is enjoying her cartoon now laying next to the gas heater.

Our lawn and the park across my house are filled with green grass. During summer, all the grass dried out and there is either no grass or brown grass. The lawn and park have two different colours. Yellow during summer and green during winter. Even if it is not raining during winter, the dew and the fog in the early morning will provide sufficient moisture for the grass to regenerate.

The water restriction only allow us to water our lawn at certain day. House with odd or even number will be allowed to water the lawn on different day. I don't bother to water them. My wife dug out some of the grass including the root in the front lawn. But when the weather turing cold, the grass just regenerate in an unbelieveable rate.

That's my sharing of life downunder.

MGB, after the explanation and due to the size of the garden, I think RM 2500 is reasonable. I reckon Ah Hie spent RM 1000 for the Japanese garden.

Mr Tee, if you must go for for your "hair" cut, I suggest you go to SGH as their are professional who will do the job for you. Don't go to saloon or you will come out with a solemn face.
