A transformation from Walking To Running

I have been into real running (no walking but running) after KL Marathon 2012 around June last year. Before the transformation happening, I was only on brisk walking and no running at all though I have participated 4 other races with the furthest in 2011 Penang Bridge Half Marathon. I had suffered bad blisters on my left foot after going through 3 hours 21 minutes and due to this injuries, I had to stop doing my routine exercise walking for about 10 days.

May be, it is due to the phobia of having blisters after going through KL Marathon, I had decided to start running short distance of 2km, then 3km....and it was a non-stop action, building up my distance over the next 5 months into another racing event. I am glad and proud of my personal achievement when I did full run in Singapore Standard Chartered Half Marathon non-stop. Yes, no walking at all.

(My Bidor Half Marathon Timing)

To-date, I have done 4 half marathons racing in the last 18 months and though my timing has not improved but I can feel strongly that my energy and fitness has increased tremendously.

During the same period, I have shed off 10 kilos. My next step is to bring down my weight @ at least another 20 kilos as this will definitely enable me to run faster and safer. I know where to cut out (smile).

It was a total commitment and determination to achieve what I have been dreaming (not yet 100%). I can a lot of short run ranging from 3km to 8km. However, my challenge now is to raise the distance to longer run of minimum 10km to build my endurance to last longer and stronger.

Well, as of yesterday, I have ran 739km over the last 10 months and I will keep running towards my goal is to run my maiden full 42.2km next July 2014 together with my friends and importantly achieving greater life and health. Amen.    Stay tune !!
