Million Smiles

A group photo taken at last night's gathering. I am not good in uploading the photo as sometime the photos cannot be enlarged when it is published on net....still not too sure why...so this round..I have waited for the photo to be uploaded (slow as the 3G signal is weak at my place)and only then I started to write few words.
Now you can see clearer...

Year End Gathering 2007

It has been while since my last home gathering with friends. Tonight, we have a family gathering among friends at my house. The idea was mooted sometime in middle of last month as we felt we should have small gathering among family to enable family members to know each other better and this can be helpful in time of need.

In all, we are estimating 10 adults and 16 children will be in my house. In fact, I am quite worry that the number would swell much further that my little house would not able to cater for such number and we may need a professional place to provide better cosy environment. But with support and encouragement from organising friends, I believe we shall have a great evening tonight.

We shall start our programme at 6pm as to cater for those with kids that we believe may need to have early break..or some may go for late night movie etc. It is on potluck basis as everyone have the opportunity to prepare their own food.

We had initially talked about BBQ (our young time favourite) but then again...due to age and kids, we felt it may not serve the best interest for this round.

Few games shall be conducted and a gift exchange event shall also be carried out for the kids.

I look forward to a great evening tonight.

Last 5 days of 2007

Time really flies...today is 27th of December and we have less than 5 days to reach end of 2007 and begin with a new 2008.

Many would have been preparing for year end gathering, singing Aulang syne to a great year whilst embracing the brand new year and I myself are also preparing one gathering among few friends over at my home in the next few days.

At Corporate front, we are scrambling to hit our budget of RM280m by 31/12/2007 (It shall be another record year !). The workout on paper is achievable but the real confirmation would have to be till the eleventh hour...

What is the significant of this situation to us, to me ?

In self improvement world...we always need to ask ourself the following few questions;

What have I achieved in 2007 ? What are the obstacles that I have gone through ? What have I failed to accomplish ?

Then, we need to ask what we are going to do next year ? Our expectation in our quest of excellence ? Our life's wishes ? How have we progress in our quest to achieve what we want in life ?

Remember, our teacher used to ask us to write a New Year Resolution ?? (I remember when I wrote my New Year Resolution for 1990 in my PA class, I achieved what I have written an "A+, the best of all" for PA in the STPM...and this just one of the many real achievements when I wrote down my wishes)

For me,...all these questions have probably been answered partly and yet to be aligned. All I need to complete this task with proper tracking and feedback method. I have to admit that it is always tougher to disciplinely manage our personal things as when compared to corporate responsibility. But hey...the master said that if we cannot do welll on our own personal things, we also could not do well on our corporate engagement.

****

Some shopping malls had already changed tune and started playing the Ding Dong Chiang...building up the Chinese New Year's mood. I saw people started buying the VCD/DVD of CNY songs/movie.

I am still incline to Christmas mood as Christmas shall be celebrated for 12 days till 5th of January 2008. Only after that I will put up CNY songs...to drum up to our Reunion 2008 ! Ya !

Finally, I visited Boulevard today

Since Saturday, 22/12/2007...I have tried to visit Boulevard Shopping Mall, the latest mall in Kuching with my bro-in-law from Sibu but the crazy traffic jam like no law is applicable totally prevented me from entering the main roads.

We have to go other places as there is no way to go there...

Not be discouraged by the first try, we try again the next evening, Sunday...even worst. The traffic jam started even before reaching the 3rd mile flyover.

We have to believe that the fatal attraction is there...but wondering why such a huge turnout though not many shops were ready there.

But we concurred that the place is like a mountain of spilled honey...for sure a lot of ants will be grouping there...

Well, last night...my wife ask me to try another time...this round we go around 8.30pm...yes we manage to pass through the mall after trailing in the jam for at least 20 minutes (in Kuching standard, this is a very bad jam) but decided not to go in as we could not find any parking space nearby, so we ended doing our grocery shopping at our favourite place...Everise 4th Mile.

Ever determined to enter this new mall, hence, after attending Christmas Mass this morning, we want to give another try, yes...we smoothly entered the parking bays (of course as the time is only 9.30a.m).

As I enter the mall, I noticed that it is still very dirty with muds, dusts and unsettled works. I observed no cleaner at sight to clean the mess (probably they are just too tired of mopping in the last few days as expected a lot of footprints made by score of ten thousands of visitors coupled with wet conditions).

We were only in the mall for less than 15 minutes, we decided to leave as there is nothing much to see where many shops are still under renovations and beside the condition is "dirty" with dusts.

Basically, the shopping environment is not conducive as yet. Many shoppers were there probably due to the new opening and all may just want to have a glimpse of the new mall.

I hope the management of the mall will quickly address some of the glaring weaknesses to ensure this hyper mall will truly shine its majestic beauty to all shoppers soonest before few of its rivalry opens out.

The next one will the Spring opening which has been scheduled on 10th January 2008 ! Let's see how they perform...

Happy Birthday To Jesus, My Lord & Brother

It's raining outside and concluded the forecast by the metrological department that this year, we shall be celebrating Wet Christmas. So, if man could forecast yet quite an accurate future...then we would have no doubt in God's love for us as he send his only Son through Mary & Joseph. He had planned this salvation programme in the beginning of time and He fulfill on this very holy night. May the light of Christmas keep you warm, guided and renewed your faith as it lead you in the righteous path of salvation.
***
Millions of money have been spent just on SMSes tonight and the day after....throughout this season of jolly. Is it worth it ? Yes, indeed as I can feel the warm of freindship and kinship, that is priceless and precious bonding. Without this SMS technology, we would have been sending physical cards which is limited and more expensive though may hold different value of reflection.
We cannot just keep silence...can we ? It is rude if we do not reply the message of love and blessing....we must pass on the flame of love so that we could be renewed and transformed...like a Candle...giving light to others,...self-tranformed...

***
Hey, I have a new phone for Christmas....it is my wife who gave this early Christmas present, a cool sleakzy N95 8G (not before my N80 was faulty, suspected due to after heavy usage as Internet modem to my laptop 2 weeks earlier).
It is indeed a different in quality especially the big screen that it has, bigger than the 1st version of N95. It can also display a horizontal show apart from usual vertical stance. Now, I can also download the whole movie to be watched at convenient as the memory bank is 8G.

It has also WIFI function, so I can still browse Internet at Coffee Beans, Starbucks..
So, my dream of having N95 in my earlier post has been fulfilled :)

***
Christmas gifts for my family...I also bought a special gift for my wife (must be vice-versa mah..if not my ears would be longer) and of course not forgetting my kids who have been pestering since they saw the Christmas tree on display in the shopping mall...
They also asked..."Is Santa Clause going to come tonight to give them gifts ?" I do not know who gave them the idea as definitely not from me...
When I am very young (when my age is still a single digit), I used to hang my stoking on the eve of Christmas for Santa to put in the Christmas gift...and in one Christmas...I got a note instead of gift...it is actually a long note from my parents...commenting on my whole year action/attitude bla...bla...a detail appraisal..huh (I wish I could have kept that note, it would be a priceless note)...hehehe...what an experience...(later I found out that they have tight budget that year to buy all 5 of us (4 brothers & a sister...I am touched by their innovative action...though no gift but the note gave a renewal to my life as I take it very seriously as though it is from Papa Santa)

Merry Christmas, Felix Navidad..may you all receive abundant blessings on this Holy Day...

Dong Zhi Festival : The Eleventh Moon falls on 22nd Dec

Why we (Chinese) celebrates this day: always 3 days before Christmas ?

Dong Zhi is the second most important festival of the Chinese calendar.

Celebrated on the longest night of the year, Dong Zhi is the day when sunshine is weakest and daylight shortest. The coming of winter is celebrated by families and is traditionally the time when farmers and fishermen gather food in preparation for the coming cold season. It is also a time for family reunions.

This celebration can be traced to the Chinese belief in yin and yang, which represent balance and harmony in life. It is believed that the yin qualities of darkness and cold are at their most powerful at this time, but it is also the turning point, giving way to the light and warmth of yang.

For this reason, the Dong Zhi Festival is a time for optimism.

Dong Zhi is celebrated in style. The longest night of the year is a time to put on brand new clothes, visit family with gifts and to laugh and drink deep into the long night.

For my family?
We still celebrate this event till today...but minus the "tang yuon" or in foochow "si yang" (dry type mixed with kacang powder). Tonight, I have celebrated with my parents and family of my eldest brother, having sumptuos dinner at a local restaurant.
At young, my mum will cook big time at home...and we children shall burn fire crackers after dinner (only during this occasion, I have the opportunity to drink soft drink...like aiscream soda, sarsi and fanta green). I must admit that Sibu still provide the strong scent of this tradition when compared to bigger city like Kuching or KL, may be because Sibu folks are still pretty a loyal traditional group of people keeping the tradition intact.

I will continue this good tradition as a family reunion activity and also celebration towards a whiter Christmas with love and a brand new year at the corner.
Have a GREAT PARTY.

Leg Shaking

While having breakfast this morning, I have noticed that human like to shake their legs...at least 6 people were shaking either one of their legs whilst having breakfast (you can call it a hobby...for which I always like to observe human character, nature or behaviour when I am relaxing).
I also noticed I also do the same act which realising it. Why do we do it ?
Don't believe...please observe the next time when you are at coffee shop.
Are our legs communicating to each others on that basis ? Definitely not !
I have surfed the net for answers...and found that it could be probably just due to sleep disorder or neurological disorder ?
Not enough sleep, difficult to sleep or waking up too early or having unrefreshing sleep could lead to restless legs.
As for old man talks...it may just show that we are too comfortable and relax...nothing to do with sleep or neuron..."we may be "Chia ba beh pau" ! Others said don't shake your legs..you may be shaking off a lot of lucks.
Well, if you are shaking too much, please see your medical doctor to find out the real reason.
Stay healthy !

Bringing Songs of Christmas Joy To All

Joy to the world, our Lord has come...

Tonight is the first night of my Legion of Mary's Christmas Carol and we have only 3 houses to visit. All in all, this year, we shall have 12 houses to go inclusive of Salvation Army (Children Home) and Chesire Home spread into 4 days this week.

The homes that we visited are homes to all our less fortunate brothers/sisters (the sick, elderly, handicapped, ophans) where we have also weekly assignment visitation to their homes.

We have about 20 of us in white and black, going in convoy of cars...back up by 3 guitarists and 1 drummer.

We really sing our full heart of happiness..what a great evening of joy, sharing with all..

Trip Back to Cinema

It has been more than 4 years since my last movie in a cineplex and tonight, after our tea meetup at around 9pm, instead going for usual beer or bones rejuvenation, Chuan Yew treated Heroes and myself to watch "I am A Legend @ Will Smith" at 10.45pm.

Yeap, I have just arrived home some 15 minutes ago..the movie is great (especially on the part of workout by Will Smith)but the feeling going back to yesteryear's passing of time activity is greater...a fabulous reexperience as nowsaday, with DVD/VCD, I would just watch movie at home.

Going for movie at Cinema is a great relaxation for me especially during 90ies...when I was in U, almost every weekend, I will watch at least a movie...the price is only RM6.00 for having it in Cineplex and if in conventional cinema, it would only cost RM3.00 (the Sun Cinema in Kajang). Sometime, we take bus to KL just to watch on bigger screen. Of course at that time, no VCD (only VCR) and I think VCD only became popular in 1995 onwards and then in 2000...DVDs. I like to watch the Sat night show at 10.45pm as normally it is the first screening of new movie (also because, the timing is more suitable...after squash for 2 hours (4pm-6pm), dinner at 7.30pm, window shopping and will normally arrive home around 1.30a.m after late night supper)

Back in school time, I recalled the sweet memories going for movie at cinema with the 3A8 gang. The ticket price was RM2.00 then. I remembered the infamous cinemas in Sibu;

1. The Kings
2. Palace
3. Cathay
4. Rex
5. King Hua
6. Lido (burnt down...still recalled watching Ti Lung, Chen Kuan Thai or Lo Lei the kungfu movie in the 80ies)
7. Zenith
There was one event back in Form Five, we were watching "Fight Back to School by Stephen Chow", there was a commotion behind us...between an Ahmu and a Taiko...as the Taiko had been shaking his leg over the chair sat by the Ahmu...at the end, AhMu wasasked to leave before fighting occurs...well, that incident costed our concentration for about 5 minutes but I remembered till today.
I have not brought my kids to watch any movie as yet but hopefully soon just like my parents who used to bring us to watch Liew Wen Chen, Ah B, Chi Han, Chin Sian Ling, Ling Fong Chiau etc...Taiwan actors..I remembered as my parents only bought 2 tickets, my brothers and sister would normally sit on the stairs of the cinema (what a sweet memories).
Hope it will be soon...before the school start in January 2008. Cheers !

Computer Geek ?

My first encounter with computer was when I was in Form 4 some 21 years back...at that time, I registered myself as a computer club member. The computer screen is "green" in colour and I cannot remember what sort of programme (DOS?) they are using then...though training was given but I never hooked up to it...so after a week, I dissappear from the aircon room.

Then...when Windows 386/Microsoft Office came into the scene few years, the computer programme becoming more interesting. In late 1993, I bought my first desktop computer costing me about RM3,600.00 (RM2k was given by my brother from his scholarship). A chaplang brand...mostly have Taiwan parts but it is a 386 Edition I. That time, it is a computer fever among the undergraduates. The computer retailer was making tonnes of money...imagine 5,000 students x RM500.00 profit = RM2,500,000.00 profitability shared among the retailers around BBB/Kajang.
This 386 helps me a lot and also my girlfriends (when you have PC, you are adored by many girls even boys as good as you have motobike or car in the campus..hehehe). In fact, it served me for full 3 years...then passed on to my girl friend for another 2 years...by then we sold to our junior for RM800.00.
When I started work, I have no problem in using the PC especially the Microsoft office programme except Power Point where I learnt from my colleagues at work.
My 2nd computer, a 486 2nd Edition came in 1998 where I bought at the same time from the same shop with Heroes costing RM2,800.00. This one is still going strong till today.
The 3rd one came in 2003, when I registered for my MBA course. They packaged it with the course fees (I guess it costs RM3,500.00). It is a Acer laptop, Pentium Celeron 2.00Ghz (see below)...and I am still using it .

Looking back at the pattern of owning computers beside know-how on computer programme...I do not consider myself as a computer geek but just as a casual user.

Last week, I have visited the IT fair in KL...I can notice that a lot of youngters (below age 18) are having laptops and further many are already expert in computer programme beside updating their hardware at every opportunity.

I was advised by my senior many years ago, one computer year is equivalent to 3 months of our human life. So, my 2nd computer is aged 36 years old and my laptop is sweet 16. The phase today may be even faster..

Computer will definitely continue to progress in this information era so must we...even my boss at the age of 60 years old (Asian standard) have to learn how to use emails (my dad is excluded...he is already 70+)...

I would expect my kids will be a computer geek as I planned to give them my PC for them to play around (got reason for my wife to upgrade myself mah...:)) as to give them an early start to computer world.

A Good Wife & Mother

I have recently received a very meaningful email from a friend and this email gave a very desirable admiration for great sacrifice, love and care from "wife and mother" . I write in this blog to admit that indeed it is real from my own experiences. Yes, a husband and father can do the same but generally wife and mother gave more love, attention and support to the family.
I would like to share this good piece of sharing for your reflection;
To all mothers, you are an inspiration....

Mom and Dad were watching TV whenMom said, "I'm tired, and it's getting late. I think I'll go to bed."She went to the kitchen to make sandwiches for the next day's lunches, rinsed out the popcorn bowls, took meat out of the freezer for supper the following evening, checked the cereal box levels, filled the sugar container, put spoons and bowls on the table and started the coffee pot for brewing the next morning.

She then put some wet clothes in the dryer, put a load of clothes into the washer, ironed a shirt and secured a loose button. She picked up the game pieces left on the table, put the phone back on the charger and put the telephone book into the drawer. She watered the plants, emptied a wastebasket and hung up a towel to dry.

She yawned and stretched and headed for the bedroom. She stopped by the desk and wrote a note to the teacher, counted out some cash for the field trip, and pulled a text book out from hiding under the chair.

She signed a birthday card for a friend, addressed and stamped the envelope and wrote a quick note for the grocery store. She put both near her purse.

Mom then washed her face, put on her Night solution & age fighting moisturizer, brushed and flossed her teeth and filed her nails.

Dad called out, "I thought you were going to bed.""I'm on my way," she said. She put some water into the dog's dish and put the cat outside, then made sure the doors were locked and the patio light was on.

She looked in on each of the kids and turned out their bedside lamps and TV's, hung up a shirt, threw some dirty socks into the hamper, and had a brief conversation with the one up still doing homework.

In her own room, she set the alarm, laid out clothing for the next day, straightened up the shoe rack. She added three things to her 6 most important things to do list. She said her prayers, and visualized the accomplishment of her goals.

About that time, Dad turned off the TV and announced to no one in particular. "I'm going to bed." And he did...without another thought.

Anything extraordinary here? Wonder why women live longer...?

'CAUSE WE ARE MADE FOR THE LONG HAUL. (and we can't die sooner, we still have things to do!!!!)

School mate's Marriage

It has been a while for me since the last one way back...probably 5 years back (frankly I could not recall the actual date/year) attended a classmate's marriage. Today, I received a call from an old classmate (nickname: Forever Living or Shi Bu Liao) informing me that he is going to get married on this coming Wednesday and hoping that I could attend his marriage ceremony. My mind actually went blank for while as I thought it is a joke...but it is real.
I am so happy for him, another one finally settled down. However, I could not confirm on my participation on his wedding event as it falls on Wednesday, a working day for me. Hopefully, I can sort it out soon and able to attend.
In fact, i am anxiously waiting for my other golden friend to settle down...but still, no sound as yet though fresh leads have been given. Hopefully it will very soon...as I have been keeping the angpow for too long...
Last but not least, i am wondering on how many are still single in my class or my form...SHS8890 Alumni.

A New Look Indeed

As I walked into the lobby of my KL Home (for 6 months period between Oct 2006 to March 2007), I can feel the difference...a different world, it just look like a new hotel.
All brightens up! A of lot warmest wishes...Hallo..Mr. Yii, welcome back !...from the bell boy, front counter staff, housekeeping, security to Mr. Riven, the GM himself. I told Riven that I am impressed with the new transformation and start asking him how much had the management spend for this new look ?

"Wait...Mr. Yii, wait till you step into the room...and I want your sincere comments on it", as Riven requested without answering my query. Curiousity floods my mind there and then as I said..ok...ok.

As soon as the counter staff passed me the room key...No. 337, I immediately go up to the room.
Hmm...muach ! ..Indeed the new look is fabulous...the hotel management should have done this transformation during my 6 months stay ! You can see the photo on the new bed and its presentation...

They also placed a new plasma TV sony Bravia 32" on a new 2 in 1 writing table...

Beside the internal building transformation, they have redo the artificial lake to look like a beach front...it is a real cool look (the photo below is taken before the dinner start)

*****

My Company Group Dinner 2007 actually took place for the 1st time on this man-made beach last night and the theme for the night is "Baywatch"(Previous year, it was in the ballroom). A total of about 400 hundred turn up for this grand event of the year. I took a lot of pictures especially the beauties in their sexy beach wear.

The food is fabulous, the MC is hillarious, the band is awesome and the whole environment is cooling with smiles all around. In addition, lucky draw, games and dancing around...a real enjoyment of life.

****

After the dinner event, I am spending two days break over in KL and will meet Pat this Sunday to catch on the latest progress directly from horse's mouth.

Cicada..when was the last time you see it ?

Some 20-30 years back in Sibu, I used to see cicada or in foochow..."nga chi" almost every night especially in my alma mater. It is harmless but like to make a lot of sound. Nowadays, I hardly saw it...I do not know whether my kids had met any of them before ?
I remembered that they have few colours; green, yellow, black and dark green (like the one in photo)
Last night...this special insect was brought in our chat, as we often have them in the SHS library...making a lot of noice beside the frogs...especially during mating season.

When I tried to reflect, these insects, animal even fishes..leh hu may faced extinction especially in the city as the environment may not be conducive for them to live or multiply.

I ever heard from old G that cicada brings happiness to home. How true..I am not too sure but one good thing is children like to play with them...trying to catch them as they fly hitting the walls or the flouresen lights...indirectly giving much joy to children.
Hope can show to my kids to them the next round I bump into them.

A Great Evening On 051207

I had a great gathering of friends last night with old school friends. We are now getting closer, more in touch in the last 6 months than the last 20 years ago since we parted our ways into the society.

Luckily..the old stories still link us to each other, how great it is...especially the time of growing up in the 70ies and 80ies.

I hope we could rekindle and cherish the sweet years of those days...as much memories as possible to ensure everlasting friendship, walk together till the last breath.

I am eager and looking forward to 8th February 2008 (or 8208), that is our 20th Reunion Anniversary. I bet some of us have not hear one another since 20 years ago....some may have forgotten their face...

Yes Or No To Share Photos on Internet

It seems that many of friends are eager to find their old photos to be scanned and post it on the blog or internet sites. Few take it as competition to see who is giving better preview into the past history.
For me, I am hesitating and careful to review whether it is good to just publish photos on the blog as it may pose over exposure to some events which are supposed to be private sharing only between friends (though earlier I have the same urge to bring out my old photos)
Yes or No...? To do it or not ? Do we need to take permission from the rest in the photo ?
I just hope those wanted to post the photos on the blog to review and reflect thoroughly to ensure we are not hurting others (in the photos)..though we may just treat it as leisure. Respect for others ? as such photos is good only for private preview.
If one really still wanted to satisfy one's needs, we can also invite friends to personal album on the internet at least that method is more controlled by way of invitation only.
For me, I think it is better to burn those photos into movie/slide show and share with visiting friends during Christmas/CNY/festivities.

IT Fair that gives Celcom Broadband a Lift..

Yesterday, I am supposed to buy a new HTC dual touch at the IT Fair in Kuching to complement my DIGI broadband usage as for the last 2 weeks I have been changing my sim card on my N80 (troublesome and some people said that by using my handphone as modem, it will reduce the phone life due to heavy usage at maximum level...importantly when I am shiok browsing internet...I will be out of touch as friends cannot contact me)
I did check the HTC price and it was quite pricey at RM2,399 but they offered a lot of goodies...2GB external card, bluetooth ear, RM100 airasia voucher..but then the price is not within my budget...so I hesitated...and walk away to look at other counters...
As I continue with my checking to look at other brands, one Celcom Broadband (wearing blue shirt)staff approached me but I nicely brushed him aside by saying to him that I would have signed up Celcom broadband 6 months earlier if not because of the extra charges for loading and uploading. The staff is blurr with my comments and I sportingly challenge him to check with his boss as this additional charges is a disadvantage to their selling (feeling proud and justified that I have chosen the best broadband value for money as mentioned is my previous blog)
So, I continue on with my window shopping through the IT stores..as I walked back passing by another Celcom store, I was approached by a friendly and pretty face (a local beauty) but nicely I told her that her colleague had approached me on this and briefly told her about my reservation...at that moment, her boss just popped up in front of me and quickly addressed the reservation and assured that Celcom Broadband also provide unlimited usage and no charges for downloading or uploading except for pay sites...to me this is good news as Celcom offers 3G speed whilst DIGI only Edge speed though it is more expensive by RM2 a month. But still not convince, I press for more answer and he assured me that is the fact as he is already using such services (actually we discuss for about 30 minutes). Feeling assured, I registered myself to try it out.
As on my way back, I called up Celcom customer service...1111, they gave me the answer I want...no additional charges for uploading or downloading except for pay sites and this already meet my need on internet usage at this moment (important must be able to browse, uploading blogs without additional charges).
So far, I am still using DIGI services until Celcom's line is up...(tommorow would need to deactivate DIGI...)
Oh,yes...I also bought a Laptopconnect USB service and wireless data service device (an air card - Brand AT&T) costing me RM499.00. Well, better than getting a phone or smart phone as the device can support the speed up to max 3.6Mbps (of course for 3G..it shall be only 384kbps..good for future upgrade...3.5 or 5G).

Last Lap of 2007

Putting up the photo of Carl Lewis (9 gold medalist) is an inspiration for success. He is my 100m and long jump hero...you may read on his story at http://www.carllewis.com/ . A sensational website...exclusive with his personal narration for you...
" Experience life to the fullest, get the most out it, reinvent yourself and go for it again !" Carl Lewis
I am always feeling good about starting a fresh calender month as we could have the opportunity to rearrange our position in the tasks that we do, a quick review session. It is especially good when it is started on a weekend...as I will have extra time to do the review. So, today is 1st Dec, a Saturday and further today is the last 1st of day of the month of the year...isn't it awesome ?

This month I shall work extra smart and hard to ensure all my set goals are achieved or least nearer to the desired results. Review of my goals is important on monthly basis and critically this period as I am also planning for my next year's goals or resolution. When comparing to personal resolution, corporate requirement is relatively easier to be set and followed as probably due to direct pressure from management and constant review.

With my 20th class reunion coming up soon, it seems that time is now shorter and more precious than 20 years back. Casting aside my school time and only looking at those 20 years...what actually have I done ? Having analysed those 20 years, then I need to ask what is my next 20 years to be ? (though many may think...do you still have another 20 years ? well we must always be positive looking forward, isn't it?)

So, if we look at broader perspective, we will be able to carve a graph of our achievement or failure so that we could change for a difference ! (then later it is easier for us to write our bibliography..hehehe )
May we (I) have a great DECEMBER..a time of recollection, rekindling of relationship (reinvent ourself as what Carl Lewis said !) and charting a new course for new 2008 ahead !

Nutritious Breakfast

I owe my lovely friend a secret recipe which has proven effective for good health and body slimming so much so..that your face could brighten up and Hokkien labelled it as "ange-ange"...

Three years back, in Nov 2004,..I was introduced by my friend to this breakfast programme for which I am so disciplinely in following through for about 1.5 years. Not only myself could see the difference, my family, friends and colleagues even customers also witnessed the big change in my appearance. This is not a bluffing statement..after 3 months...my body weight dropped by 21 kilos and my waist line drop by 4.5 inches (my wife also follow the exact programme...had a great vital stats...pheweewee...).

During the period, I have also stopped having rice or kolok or kampua mee totally. I am conscious on my carbo intake and I replace it with vege and fruits. Further once a month, I had a detox programme.

Beside having good meals, exercise frequently will help to expedite the renewal process of our body system.

Now, I stop the programme but still maintaining the intake of vitamins...my weight does actually increase by 10 kilos but waist only increase by 0.5 inch. These are probably due to my indiscipline of having kolok or kampua also every other day beside heavy entertainment.

Okay...not to delay the sharing of the secret recipe...below is only a suggested programme and please do not carry out without proper consultation with your doctors...especially if you have illnesses;

a) A green apple
b) 250ml of plain mineral water
c) 1 tablet of multivitamins
d) 2 tablets of Vitamin Bio-C Plus
e) 2 tablets of Calcium Magnesium
f) 2 tablets of Vitamin E-Lecithin
g) 2 tablets of Natural Vitamin B Complex
h) 2 big spoons of Positrim
i) 2 big spoons of Active 8 Lemon Lime
j) 1 spoon of plain natural yohgurt
k) few cubes of ais

Use a blender to blend all the above ingredients...to have a nice cold sweet nutritious drink. Beside having a lot of nutrients, it is a detoxify drink which helps to eliminate toxic substances and toxins from our body.

After having the nutritious, please do not drink tea or coffee for the next 3 hours (Actually, it is good to avoid them totally...you may substitute with soya bean drink (without sugar)).

***There may be some reaction after drinking for the first time i.e going toilet, dizzy...as some detoxification process may be happening....drink a lot of water during the day..

Not only me...many who disciplinely have their body taking the above nutritious breakfast had actually experienced healing and cleansing of their body. It is a inside out rejuvenation of our body system.

With Christmas, New Year and Chinese New Year one after another...this programme could help to maintain our ideal weight and importantly the good health of our body.

To me, i really dream for a fitter body as I could be more active in my life and could deliver better results in my works etc. Thus, I will reactivate my nutritious breakfast regime again...and hopefully...I could succeed in achieving my goal this year...(31 days left for 2007)...

Last Day of Nov 2007

In 1.5 hours from now, as I write this blog...I shall be facing the final day of Nov 2007 and then we are chasing the last lap of 2007 with less than 31 days before the new beginning of 2008.
It is a season ending...and my friend William informed that many companies at Down Under are closed for two weeks as season ending holiday in Dec for their employees. How good (no, its real fantastic) if my boss also called tommorow...G8buds...you are on holiday for the whole month of Dec. See you next year...(that is really dreaming of White Christmas in Malaysia).
The mood of Christmas is drumming up, a lot of families also are going for holiday or year end shopping preparing for the coming of new year (Just to remind, better get buying some of the new clothing during this Yearend Malaysia Sales (as CNY is on early February and this one is the last sales of the year).
HOI !...stop dreaming blank...tommorow is the final day of booking in of my sales production. I need to put in many extra plus also to meet many datelines;
a) Submission of my staff appraisal form
b) Summary of my Nov Report
c) Dec Sales forecast
d) Finalisation of 2008 Budget
e) Business & Planning Presentation slides
.....hope for the best output tommorow...cheers..after can relax for two days, visiting IT fair, look for best deal IT products or go for full body massage..leh..already 4 weeks since the last one...

Look Closer At Life...

This morning (should I say, yesterday morning), as I was discussing with my core client, I saw a statement on the calender of his desk mentioning....

"When we look closer at our life, we will discover miracles"

It really struck me as indeed we must appreciate what we have as in echoing to my lovely lady's sharing in one blog, then another hero posted on his own....and especially during this season of love when preparing the coming of Christmas.
Life is precious & priceless, a miracle of God.

As we have health, we reflect on others who are suffering from all types of sickness/diseases,
As we have job, we reflect on others who are jobless and struggle to have their ends meet,
As we have time, we reflect on those who have less time, probably given less than 24 hours to live on,

As we have family and friends, we reflect on those who are lonely without loved ones or friends
As we have our home, we reflect on those on are homeless,
As we have food to munch, we reflect on those hungry,
As we have cloth to wear, we reflect on those who are naked,
As we have hands or legs, we reflect on those who are limbless,
As we have ear and eyes, we reflect on those who are blind and deaf,
As we love to share, we reflect on those who cannot love,

As we can forgive, we reflect on those who cannot forgive

As we have peace, joy & harmony, we reflect on those who yearn for it,

As we could share on all type of the gifts we received from God with others, we shall reflect on those who do not have such opportunity to share with others...Thus, Be Thankful Always, God has given us a lot of miracles which we are not aware if we do not look closely on our own life...every inch, side, second of it...we may miss the best grace and blessing of life. If we take these miracles for grantede chance to lose them...as He is always with those who appreciate and love Him....

Grasshopper Time

Yesterday, as I passed by a patch of grass at SGH, I suddenly recalled about grasshoppper and the sweet time at young age whereby I used to catch grasshopper at the school field for our science class. We actually studied its life, anatomy of the grasshopper and contribution to the green (also I use it as a bait for my fishing trip...lehhu likes it...talking about fish, the Oya Road longkau (ang chui kau) is getting dirtier and last time, I could remember that it is much cleaner and we have a lot of leh hu, sparks and comboi hu in it...now I think there is hardly any..ang tan (red worms...my siobak hu likes it very much) also don't have already...the ang chui also turn into tehsi colour already)
It is a long..long time since the last I saw a live grasshopper (must go and catch one). To me, it linked to happiness as young kids I used to hop and chase them in the green field. Running around and hopping like grasshopper with my friends at the field as very relaxing time. This also recall the time when we liked to ball in the field especially when it rains. I remember one time Bro. Albinus was shouting at a group us from Block 4 (Boys...what are you doing there...come here now !) when we played football during a heavy rain. All of us suddenly became like commandos, crawling on the ground and sneak away. Actually, I know...he is worried about us as we may be struck by lightning.
Well, greenery is good and the colour of it is soothing and help to ease our eyes tension...that is why green is the main colour in the surgery room as it could reduce the tensions for the doctors and nurses when doing their important and critical tasks. I remember back in 2005, when visiting Sydney..I came across a green park where it is so beautiful and refreshing...so much so that the angmos just like to have picnic or sunbathing on the green. I think they know that is good for them...I always looking forward to revisit this refreshing environment soon.

Back on grasshopper :
Hey,...do you know that grasshopper can be dangerous and damaging to plantation/plants...there is a movie about them and they can bring disasters when in millions. The photo at the left shows that the grasshopper is very big about the size of a normal dog ?
But there is also a good thing also...we have a HK Canto pop Grasshopper band...I still listen to their songs...active and refreshing for Monday or weekend leh..as it moves our body !
Thank God, in Malaysia...we do not have such a threat and our grasshoppers are friendly though..and foremost...we must appreciate grasshopper and greenery.

Do You Know How Dirty Is The Air ?

Many of us may not realise that our air has a lot of contaminants and especially in our house or our bedroom. Two years back, I bought a set of Air Treatment System after seeing the presentation from our John W. who share how dirty is the air. Today, I am grateful that I have bought this external lungs in my room as it helps me to breath/filter the dirty contaminants from the flow in my bedroom. In addition, it also increase the flow of fresh air and increase coldness to my room (nowadays, I only put my aircon temperature at 24 degree and I already felt it is very cold in contrast to before, where I have to set at 16 degree)
How dirty is it ? Let me show you the difference on the outer 1st layer of the filter pad of the machine ?

a) Before cleaning,..I trust that you are able to notice the white thick layer of dust/contaminants on the outer filter,

b) After my quick cleaning,

My wife and I actually could not understand why there is so much dust in our bedroom as we have been cleaning our room frequently...but as we explore further, we realise that there is a lot of fibre from our clothings and contaminants from air circulating in our room.

If you do not have this air treatment system to verify, you may want to check on your air-con filter, you will understand what I am sharing today.

Do take care of our lungs as they can not be replaced and it is God's given gift, to enable us to breath and live a fruitful life..

Medical Insurance

Better buy a cover as to protect our financial ability when we need most. The rising cost of medical is inevitable with every other things had increased. I have bought extra cover for myself although my company does provide a cover for me.

Even, I have bought for my parents as I believe insurance does serve the right purpose when we are uncertain of the potential financial difficulties ahead but of course, we always pray that we will never have to rely on it.

The price of insurance increases with age. However, once you are diagnosed with poor health condition, you will not longer eligible for such cover.

Therefore, my friends, do it now than later. If you do have have means but at least have the will...buying the small cover first and later upgrade it to better plans.

My Favourite Dry Mee

Whether it is kampua mee or kolok mee....I like to have it almost every day, that is why I could maintain my ideal weight...

Thanks to courtesy of Monkey Wong and Kampua Talk, I found these delicious photos...

You can have the best kolok in Kuching, whilst Kampua in Sibu...

Exactly where you may ask...? Well, in my opinion,

a) Kolok mee - Chuen Yuen coffee shop at Abell Road or Yong Chuen (beside Continental hotel)

b) Kampua mee - at Jln Long Bridge in Sibu, in Kuching...you can look for Sim Poh Poh...

BTW, the price per plate has just been recently increased ! A plate now costs RM2.70 ! (of course if you go around, you can still find some selling at only RM2.20-RM2.40).

For special kolok as the one shows below...

It will cost you at least RM5.00 !

A Consideration To Investments

This morning if not because of Mr. Tee's reminder, I have actually forgotten about the official office opening of a friend's land investment company as my GM called me up for an audit discussion which is very urgent to be submitted by this afternoon (as I am also on a half day leave...so my schedule is actually very pact). However, as to show strong support morally to my lovely friend, I have followed Mr. Tee to the function and we are supposed to have just a quick attendance as I need to be back to my own office at 11.30 a.m.
When we arrived at 11.00a.m sharp, Ah Too is also there and I met few familiar faces...my own agents (si..loh..they will tag me as the new target loh...) and the event was fast, as the guest of honour was about to cut the ribbon to enter the premises. It was smooth as planned...A quick intro from the MC to the guests and a short speech from the guest of honour...the opening ceremony is quite done..by then it is only 11.20a.m.

A relief when I heard the MC saying that the ceremony is done and those who wish to sit down for investment presentation, they may stay and those who wish to proceed with their early lunch, we may just proceed to the food counter. Instead of proceeding to the food, my lovely friend quickly pulls us into the discussion room....and start to share with us her personal experience from an investor outlook....(there goes my planning and had to text my boss for delay of our discussion...)

Now...my main objective to write this blog is actually trying to reflect on what is the best investment options available to us;

a) House
b) Vehicle
c) Land
d) Shophouse
e) Insurance
f) Stocks market
g) Unit trusts
h) Business opportunities/partnership
i) Our career
j) Our kids' education
k) Ourself...in promoting our career path or business development...
Before trying to reflect on the above options, probably we may need to know the following;

a) Have we ever thought about investment ? let our hard earned money to work us...money work for money..
b) We actually using our energy and time for the return of our investment...how much time do we have ?
c) Do you have a investment plan/strategy ?
d) What is our goal of financial freedom ? RM1m cash in excess of our accumulated properties worth RM5m with yearly investment profits of at least RM500,000.00 ?
This topic is ever refreshing...and it may also confuse us if we are not careful with our planning. The best is good exposure to share and learn from different masters as to provide an overview of our investment planning...the little pool of money that we have to enable us to achieve financial independence.
One of the smarter guy did mention to me...though you may not be able to transform fully but by preparing your mindself through reflection on what you are prepared to do...your transformation has already begun...and it is definitely for better than those guys who do not even think..
If you have read this blog to this stage,...congratulation you have started your path to financial freedom...and do not stop here, please try to explore further by answering the above few questions..then if you find your answers are "blurr", do not stop there but proceeding to explore with the experts to plan yourself a good investment plan to reap the optimum profits (that is how the rich guys think and do ! They plan and think enough to be richer that the poor...and normally the poor do not think much and always say happiness is the best. Hey, definitely happiness and good health are also top in the list for rich people and th when they have a good investment plan they believe that having a good investment plan with maximum return shall assist them in their positioning for happiness and good health..)

Moses, our "Ultraman"

Today, 18th November (Chinese...1118 or 1811) is my boy's birthday...

We celebrated his birthday at a fast food outlet at Crown Plaza, Kuching. He is very happy especially receiving gifts and as we sing the birthday song...he is smiling all throughout...

Why Ultraman ? Ultraman is one of his favourite Heroes (not Heroes of our blog...dont' mix up..ya..:) ). He is wearing his new ultraman t-shirt and short, had the "LIGHT" of the Ultraman (you can notice that it is placed on the table next to the birthday cake) and also received ultraman's underwear and bolster...

Rachel is also very happy as her mum gave her a new doll for her good year end exam result where she achieved the No.2 position in her all class of 30 (previous year she was No. 3).

Always The Smarter Choice With Yellow Coverage Fella

They said (not me..)...Only smart person always choose the smarter choice...on Friday, 16/11/2007, I decided to sign up the latest offer from DiGi, the broadband services as over the years I have been waiting for Celcom to come up with the best offer...even the moment before I appear at the DiGi Specialised Store's registration counter, I have called up (last chance to refuse...as indeed I have been a strong Celcom supporter since 1997) Celcom to double check whether their 3G broadband services could provide competitive edge over DiGi. To me having Celcom services is convenient as I would only need to a 3G phone but as they would charge 10 cent per 10kb per download or upload...it would be costlier for me to use the service. As for DiGi, for a mere RM66 per month, it is unlimited inclusive of download and upload wherever, whenever you want it...this is a cool stuff !
My inner self also reminded me...hey..why don't you take up Streamyx (actually I have gone few times to the shop to enquire about it)...but then again..costing is much high though the streamyx speed is better beside;

- to enable streamyx, I need to have a fix line at home...that cost additional RM30++
- installation fees
- modem
- nonmobile...if wireless need to incur extra...
okie...okie...but then again, you have already connected at the office...Hello...that is not proper and I have to sacrifice my early morning, lunch or stay late, that is breach of a corporate code..
so..soo..I finally decided to register with the Yellow man...
Wow...with this connection, I am now writing this blog from my dinner table for the maiden time...the feeling is great...next time, may consider to do it from the toilet...hehehe..

Anyway, this connnection is not without obstacles...as I have only be able to connect my laptop today (2 days after the registration) as the DiGi technician discover that my WindowXP has corrupted files thus, my PC suite could not complete the connection. So,...I have to run up and down to the computer shop to reformat and reinstall the XP programme and paid a fees of RM40.00. But then again it is blessing in disguise for my latop of 4 years old (a gift from the MBA programme which I took in 2003...actually paid by myself under indirect arrangement from the programme fees of about RM28k...) where it is now been reinstalled with latest softwares and extra...a rejuvenated laptop.

Now...I am feeling good...ohyeah...(background music...I am feeling good..with Eddie Murphy dancing his belly...)

Chinese Paper Umbrella

This paper umbrella brings noltalgic feeling to my "Ah Kung" @ grandpa who always carry a piece of paper umbrella with him. I remember I am still using it way back in Form 1 or 2...after that I lost touch with it as we change to steel/nylon based umbrella which is more durable.
If I could recall, the price per piece is only RM2.00 then (in early 1980s).
Today, I have not seen it anymore even at any of the old shop...

Value of Coin

This snap shot of 20 cents is taken using my N80 Camera phone...quality is so-so as it does not have the zoom function.
Actually my main reason for taking this snap shot to remind myself of time really flies and also the threat of inflation into our life and need to review my income/expenditure account.
Description of the coins:
1) On the left - it is a 20 cents coin produced in 1967
2) On the right - it is a 20 cents coin produced in 2006 (cannot find 2007 though I have a 10 cents coin of 2007)
They are 40 years of difference...but still carry the same value physically. However, though the value of coin is the same, they are not able to trade the same quantity of goods (I am sure all of us is fully aware).
Back in 1967, though I am still not born into this world but I would guess the value of 20 cents is like RM2.00. In 1977, I remember that I could buy 10 pieces of sweets for the amount of 20 cents {I was in Rejang Kindi (between Tiong Hua Lo and Melian Han that time)}. Today, I could only buy 3 pieces of sweets for a 20 cents coin. This is real inflation !
Yesterday, I was having lunch with Heroes and for the first in my life, I have paid RM2.60 for a plate of kampua mee in Kuching (for sure...I will never go to that place anymore). However, after my understanding, many stalls have increased their pricing effecting this month...averagely today, we need to pay RM2.50...additional 30 cents from RM2.20 per plate.
Back in 1977, a plate would only cost 50 cents. So, if we allow...10 cents a year...after 30 years...it would reach RM3.50..so, the increase seems to be reasonable and still below the maximum range based on 10 cents yearly increase. However, if we work on percentage...it is a 600% increase..averagely a 20% increase on yearly basis...
Now, if we work on our salary...sincerely...do you get an average 20% increase yearly ? (If you do get 10% increase, congratulation, you are top in the group...20% yearly would be a triple jump every year and you are considered having the CEO materials...Entrepreneur of the Year (many I believe is only getting a nominal adjustment of 4-7% or some stagnant for the last few years since the last 2003 medium crisis.)
There have been pre-announcements by few ministers on the fuel price hike (as to provide expectation and to cushion the effect especially election round the corner (still remember DAP uses the last hike as political weapon in their campaign ?...a mindset game)...some is projecting as high as 70 cents a litre...so for my Inokom Matrix (1.6 litre)...normally I shall use about 45 litre per week costing about RM85.95 (current per litre is RM1.91). Thus with additional 70 cents per litre, I shall be expecting to incur additional RM126 per month (RM469.8 per month in total...sweating on my forehead already). If inclusive my wife's Waja, I need to pay additional RM189 (projecting my wife's petrol consumption is 50% less).
We may not be able to control much on this increase but need to be prepared and to adjust our lifestyle and expenditure so that we are able to maximise each of our 20 cents.
- For petrol : buy a special enhancer to maximise the power (so far have been able to cut down by about 15%), think/plan before driving to maximise usage, ensure tyre is properly inflated, do not carry excessive baggage
- For foods : cook and eat at home more often (per eating out with my family, I spent about RM30...), cut down on intake, call up friends for free drinks or foods :)
Search and look out for extra income...via capital investments, additional business opportunities etc..
What else...can I look out ? Be prepared to change...

A Blunder and Fruitful Experience

Last Saturday at around 6.45pm, I realised that I lost my wallet when I was preparing to go out for dinner at Buntal Fishing Village after resting in the chalet at Damai Beach Hotel. I am actually in shock and could not believe that I have lost it. I try to locate as searching through the hotel bed, the room and the whole trail from the training room to my chalet. As the time passes, I started to worry on a lot of trouble acts...have to lodge police report, cancel cards etc. At last I have decided to approach the hotel manager and inform her about the incident. She is calm and she seems to be experience in facing such incident. I have told her about how I knew about the lost and ask her to open up the training room for my searching...

Our dinner appointment is at 7.00pm, meeting at the lobby...by then all of my team members knew that I have lost my wallet and they also join in the search. I am trying to compose my emotion as their leader but deep in my heart I am actually quite frustrated on why this happens on me and I have to get some many people to assist me. After searching the training room, we still could not locate the wallet and I decided to make a simple report with the hotel security and they have assured me that they shall do the staff search as to ensure no hotel staff are involved in the mismanagement. Then, we all proceeded with our dinner as I brave myself to stay cool and composed.

On the way to the dinner place, I have also decided to make phone calls to all the bankers on the missing of my wallet and asked them to bar the credit and ATM cards. Whilst having our dinner, I am appreciative on my team members trying to figure out what could be the possibilities on my missing wallet. From the discussion, I am sure that the wallet is still in my chalet and probably "something" had covered it up as I felt there is no way that it could have been slip out from my trouser.

I am also impressed with the hotel responses as the hotel manager called me whilst I am having my dinner and updated me that they have searched the hotel staff lockers, the training premises and all the dustbins. He continues to discuss with me on the options and potentiality on how I could have slip the wallet.

After dinner, I quickly drive back and reach my room together with my family (before that I pray and invoke for Almighty's intervention and help), I move the beds and found that it is below the bed...hai! All relieved and thanking God for his protection.

Then, I have to go through the whole process of withdrawing my report with the hotel and the bankers plus telling my team members on the recovery of my wallet... (hai...liao si gan and chinsing...but relieved)

As I go through the withdrawal process, my mind is still trying to figure out why such thing had happen ? How can the wallet slip out from my trouser and flew beneath the bed ? (I do not understand...) Is there any learning process here ? Is God trying to reveal something here ? At last, I would conclude the following;

a) The process is testing my patience.
b) It is testing my response to such situation especially in front of my team member and family.
c) It also giving my the opportunity to see through the process who are helping me to stay in right perspective.
d) It train me to be more careful and alert.
e) My wife and children are all with me praying with me.
f) It reminds me of God's power and mercy.

I am glad that I found my wallet and I have passed through the test with true patience and acceptance although my worries are always there.

My Rachel's Birthday

Rachel is 6 years old, by the stroke of 3.29pm today...we have actually celebrated her birthday yesterday evening at a local restaurant together with her brother, ee-ee and of course mummy and daddy...

She is very happy and has been waiting for this day for a long time...she is on the smile the whole night...and keep asking her brother and us to sing the birthday songs...and she will also move her body along to the tune of the musics.

Her brother Moses also gave him a warm hug and a kiss to wish her sister...Happy Birthday ! Rachel in return allow him to have one of the two cherries on the cake. :)

Well, Moses is also very eager for his turn...as he already mentioned to me about what he wants on his birthday...which is also this month, on the 18th !

Am Not Feeling Well...

As I have been on a very hectic activities for the past two weeks...I can feel my throat is dryer, soft coughing and yesterday have high fever but no sweating. Whole night difficult to sleep and as though floating in the air.

Just bought cough syrup to expedite cure beside taking 4 tablets of Vit C every 12 hours and applying vicks on my feets to stop the coughing. The virus attack is strong and I can feel my whole body aching and fever for the last two days.

Well, all these are due to not enough sleeps and too much drinking at late hours since the previous Tuesday beside probably in the low cycle of fitness.

I hope the recovery would be fast as I need to complete few of important tasks over the next few days.

Monday 29 October 2007

12 days of MIA-FMB

I am eager to be back writing my blog again..a silence since the last one on 17/10/2007. Well, I have been busy for the last 2 weeks or so...working my new business blue print for the next 3 years beside having reviewing my staff performance for the year.

The last whole week, I spent 5 days 4 nights in KL working through my business session...I nearly got stuck in the meeting room as my whole body start to breakdown due to fatigue having going through late night and whole days meeting sessions...average only been sleeping for 4 hours.

When I reached home at 12.30 a.m., I am relieved..slept at 1.30 a.m but then again I was woke up by Rachel at 6.00 a.m. asking for her gifts which I promised few days earlier (another 5 hours of sleep..huh...)...her brother also woke up around 5 minutes later...by then,...we were chit-chatting till around 7.30a.m. as we prepared ourselves for Mass at 8.00a.m.

Having not been with my two kids since Tueday morning, I have discovered that some big changes in Moses where he communicates better and is equally inquisitive as the sister. It is really interesting to experience this change.

On Sunday, I have been mostly at home...resting and getting ready for the bigger events this week...THE END OF THE MONTH !

Chiao first...as have a lunch appointment but due to my "itchyness" to write something & also wanted to freshen up my blog, I will put in some new findings from my last trip to KL.

My Mum Has A Handphone..finally

My mum called me up on Monday asking me about getting a handphone as my dad is grumbling that he cannot find her when she is out in the market (as all this while my dad had a handphone but not my mum)...guess what...yesterday she called me up with her new handphone from the shop.

She has a Nokia but I do not know the model..and costs RM270.00, I guess is the 3000 series.

My mum said everybody now has to have handphone if not, it is difficult to keep contact."...gangku lo nen"...even the kids at the age of 10 also has one...she laments...She never had any handphone and I think she will need to learn a lot on using a phone...hopefully soon she can send me SMSes...but I do not know Mandarin ?

My Birthday Celebration 2007

I have taken this photo on a laptop (at one of the PC outlet at Tun Jugah, Kuching) on my birthday...if you noticed, it is 8 something on 14th Oct..the time is about the same time that I was born as per my mother's handwriting on my birth certificate. (Those days, the govt does not type in the time like now...my children have their exact timing as declared by doctor on their birth certificate.)

Rewind...two days back...

This year's birthday celebration started few days earlier due to holidays. My staff organised a birthday cake and song singing at the office on last Friday, 12th Oct as my birthday this year falls on Sunday. It was the usual birthday singing and wishing as we have set in our office that all staff's birthday must be remembered and celebrated.

It was quite a busy weekend as I have few events to be involved. On the eve, 13th Oct, at 9a.m, I climbed up Mount Singai on a pilgrimage with my fellow brothers and sisters of Legion of Mary (Mater Misericordiae - Mother of Mercy). It was a refreshing session as we have the Station of the Cross from the foot of the hill to the top. We concluded the session with a Mass celebration and rosary recitation in front of the shrine of Mother Mary. As promised, I have also prayed for the peace & health to all my SHS8890 Alumni blog friends...Actually we are supposed to have stayed over night but later due to poor response on the night stay, we have programme it on a day trip. Thus, I descended and arrive back at my sweet home around 2pm.

Refresh myself and zooom...I made a Hari Raya visit to one of my supporter's house and there I met Heroes & his sworn-brother, Tommy. We chit-chat for about an hour and have to rush back to pick up my wife and kids for the sunset mass at St. Peter's Church, Padungan. I am early as I have to sell the Today's Catholic, a monthly Catholic newpaper together with few brothers and sisters (the same Legion as it was my weekly assignment).

The mass ended at sharp 7.00pm. We adjourned for my birthday dinner...organised by my wife specially for me at Kampung Buntal together with my bro-in-law and family from Sibu. We drove for about 40 minutes..a bit slow than usual as the road is quite congested with cars doing the raya visitation along the way to Damai.

Hey, I have a "Kompia" look alike cheese cake as my birthday cake from Secret Recipe...costing RM70 ! The taste is very nice..my kids, wife and inlaws sang the usual birthday song and I made a wish and blow the 36 little candles. A simple and memorable birthday dinner indeed...what else I could ask more ? am already satisfy with the love and presence of my loved ones together with me...
Back to the actual day and time...the time taking the photo on the laptop... after that I bought myself a birthday gift from the shop...not a laptop or N95...but a more meaningful gift..the portable hard disk.:)
