Do you realise the cost of eating out is getting more expensive ? Yes...definitely.
My usual "kaya balls" favourites is now costing extra 20 cents. Kampua is now all across RM2.50 per plate. Fried mee is at RM3.50.
Yesterday, I bought 2 packets of 1 litre soya bean drinks from Ta Kiong Emporium at The Spring, Kuching. The price is cheap at only RM1.80 per packet as I compared to my usual kopitiam drink (Teh-C peng) which costs RM1.60, if 5 layers special it will be RM2.00. In term of quantity ratio is 4 soya bean to 1 teh-C peng.
Mathematically, I am spending RM4.80 for usual drink per day...and for a 30 days period, I have to pay RM144.00 and plus 50% for treating friends..I would need to fork up RM216.00 just for drinks. So, if I drink at home more often, I could save RM1.15 per glass and RM103.50 per month !
Recently, I read an article in the Strait Times (of course many of you didn't read as it is a main stream media...) whereby it said about cutting down eating out which will definitely cut down our expenses in the light of fuel rising costs. It is very true as eating at home definitely is cheaper as when we buy and cook at home, we have already cut down 30% profit taking by the food operators. In addition, we will be able to ensure quality and quantity at our will.
Hey, just the last weekend alone, I have been spending about RM30 per dining out with my family of four...that will consitute to RM150 (as we do not have lunch on Sunday). If eating in, I could have save at least RM45.00 and a month, I will save RM180.00 just for the weekends.
"Sikit sikit lama lama jadi bukit"...rightly will give us the motivation of such savings. One year will lead to RM2,160.00 and ten years...it is RM21,600.00. Mind us, this is just a linear saving of the monetary value. If we work it out on exponentially...the amount is huge !
If we planned our eating places and take note of the prices, I am sure we will be able to at least save extra for another dining out...
However, if your earnings is more than "segunung tinggi"...forget about what I shared just now...it does not matter at all ! Hhehehe

Everyweek we will drive all the way down to JB to pump the petrol and have a car wash. definitely cheaper. A car wash in sg is abt S$7 (without vacuum), whereas in JB is abt RM8 (includes vacuum n wipe all the interior)
Now the conversion rate is 233.50.Is a huge savings rite??
Momie, how much the petrol price in S'pore per litre? How far from your apartment to JB car wash? I just curious to know how much savings u r looking at.
MGB, u r right that all the food & drink's price is increase in Kuching and we need to spend more on food and drink. In KL is more expensive and I have to spend more than i spend while in Kuching. These two months I have to spend 50% more on what I have to spend in Kuching. But one thing good is that i have saved about RM250 - RM300 on my petrol as in KL i used company car. Furthermore additional allowance could cover up my extra expenses. I have yet to calculate how much I have spent in KL since i came to KL early May.
You are really good in saving cost and I could see the amount you saved per month could allow you to contribute to our dalian friends more frequently... hehehe.....

the petrol price is almost the same. just the currency diff lor. my house to jb abt 50 mins if smooth traffic at custom..
today do u read the newspaper?? no petrol sales to foreign cars. It will applies to petrol stations located as far as 50km from the borders. It will take effect by friday or the latest monday.. so we hv to quickly go down for our last saving..hhahhaha..
MGB, do u know how much kolok mee in s'pore?? S$4.50-S$5 with 2 slices of abalones.
Here we hv curry chicken kolo mee, cost abt S$6.00/RM14.00. quite nice but too expensive..
Momie, thats nice kolo mee in s'pore got abalones! In m'sia where got lar..... but the price is expensive even though we compare 1 sing dollar with 1 RM....

Momie, time may going for worst, save more for future. I have spent a lot on my house moving...now need to wait for the tangki to be full again.

Cook at home?? depends on my chef's mood leh..if he feel like to eat at home then will cook lor. If you cook at home, definitely will b cheaper..nowadays i hv to buy my lunch @ my house area..my office is at harbourfront n next to vivo city, opposite to sentosa, the foodcourt r damn expensive..like one plate of chicken rice cost abt S$3.80, if ta pao need to pay add @ S$0.30, if i buy at my house area, only S$2.00. If u buy fm the malay store, even worst..1 curry chicken, vege & egg cost abt S$6.00. I heard fm my gf in kl saying that the cost of living there can compete with sg.. u hv to stay there for how long??

Momie, I shall be temporary stationed in my KL office til probably early July. Your friend is right, the cost of living in KL now is very high. From the moment you step out your house, RM is running....... Your brother is always working very hard and when talk about work commitment, he is second to none. His tangki is always full, it just that how he want to spend only and he has a good home minister to manage the tangki. Yeah foochow is good in generating money and saving money. I am half foochow, so I only can reach half of your brother level..... hahaha.....

If you find a korean girls, worst..everything must b branded. like my hubby's boss's wife is korean. buy groceries only at high class mart like at bukit timah area (rich ppl area), at home must on the air con 24 hrs,every year when comes to singapore great sales, they spend abt S$40k plus..she dun allow her kids go to hawker centre for dining.

that is y a lot of girls in sg remain single life..one of my gf said y we hv to make ourself difficult if find a guys who earns lower than us?? how to survive? guess what? most of the sg girls prefer m'sian or ang mo. they said sg guys cannot make it.
honestly speaking, if me, myself will not choose sg guys..hahah..they r super kia si n egoistic. some when u c their appearance, wow so nice..carry all the branded stuffs n drive a nice car but a/c no $$.
Kuching is a heaven for foods. Kampua at RM2.50 is cheap. I have my morning tea around 10am with my colleagues and lunch at coffee shop everyday. Weekend I brought my family out for breakfast. Sometime in weekday we dine out. The amount of coffee shops in Kuching make it a food heaven and the price is simply affordable.
Now, we dine out on average once a month. There is no place for breakfast aqnd breakfast has to be taken at home. Lunch is packed sandwich and taken at office or school. We will have to innovative in cooking dinner. Food is not expensive and all the ingredients of cooking an Asian meals are available in Supermarket. It is very expensive in dining out. A meal for one person is around $7 - 8, that's RM21 at food court. It is definitely more expensive in Restaurant. The one thing that is cheap is Pizza. A large pizza at Pizza Hut is $5 and two of them are sufficient to fill a family of four with left over.
I missed Laksa Sarawak. My friend wife do cook Laksa but the standard is far below par.
