State of Preparedness

Immediately, I shall be paying an extra RM10.00 for Rachel's busfare in view of the petrol increase (it is an awful increase, considering the distance from Chung Hua School No. 3 to Padungan Kindergarten is just less than 2km...if inclusive of 1 big round about).

Over in business, my CEO has already issued a statement on extra care in business travelling expenses, electricity comsumption and etc as if these factors are not controlled at hand, we may suffer average 20% increase to our operating structure. However, he has fell short of saying an adjustment of salary to curb the increase (hai...a, that would probably be the last or never action...till year end this year).

It seems that many transportation associations have openly issued statement to increase their charges with immediate effect and they are not concern about the Government's warning as they said..it is due to survival situation. This could be true, when business operators has been competing for pricing over the years and the increase of an important factor in their operation model has cause deep distortion intheir business. Well, we cannot deny, few may just want to take the opportunity to adjust their business structure although they have been profiting a lot.

I have read a news urging the Government to increase the royalty percentage to Sarawak, an oil producing state especially when our public transportation in the state are well underdeveloped. Instead of increasing the royalty percentage, Federal Government can increase the development fund commensurate with the contribution from our fertile state (I wonder who has the figure in hand ? whether we have already received the fair share from Federal Government...if we have, why we are still much behind other states like Penang, Selangor, Johor - non-oil producing state). How far is our Government particularly the State had planned for our future and what we can really see beyond 2014 (the year, Malaysia expected to become a net importer country)? We need to ask serius questions to our elected Government on their future thinking and from their answers, we will decide their future in 2011 !

Privately, this situation that we are in now...is sooner or later and the question is whether what is our own's the state of preparedness in embracing the future...not only having increase petrol price but the rippling effects of inflation and with growing kids soon we need an big education fund to support through their graduation ?

As Malaysian particularly Sarawakian, we need to contribute on our development thinking on how best to contribute to our country. Many bright brains may have chosen abroad to contribute but as to preserve our Malaysian existence, we (those still around slogging on) need to work in unison to ensure we have brighter future for our new Malaysian generation especially our kids and grandies.

The increasing world population and a contrast in depleting resources such as oil, gas, minerals and agricultural lands has worsening the shortage of resources and food now faced by every country in the world. The rise in price for the basic needs is a global phenomena.

The basic cost increase such as food, education, health, transport etc will make the task of bringing up the children even more challenging.

It is very worrying when the government repeatly urging the people to change life style to cope with increasing cost. That means lowering down living standard and I wonder how Vision 2020 is able achieved.

The govt is barking at the wrong tree. How I wish it is 2011 or 2013 now. It is just pushing the toilet flush button and flush them out clean clean.

Sometimes I just dun understand why these bloody stupid politician still act like we know shit. So who's to blame for putting these naive politician on there seat. Today I read in Borneo Post a bizman son who is MP for 2nd term saying the longhouse people shd change their lifestyle. I wonder if there's any blood in his brain or just filled with water. These longhouse people are already living in the most basic way ie using generator to run their lights and other elec items so how does he expect them to do more basic? U tell me.

Hmmm....MGB must be smiling hei buddy...now the longhouse r very modern. ya I know but Im just referring to the very ulu ulu.

when talk about our current government now, i think all of us could come out with billions of unsatisfactory feeling towards them. Now who suffer most? It's us as Malaysian. Now I could feel the impact in KL, like food, and drink had increased by various percentage. Wantan Mee now cost RM4.00 a plate, shit! Chicken rice now is RM5.00 per plate..... of course, at the moment, only certain area increase the cost but i believe others will follow soon.

Joe/MGB,
hahaha..... two of you just cute....

The situation in Malaysia is due to decades of corrupt practice, mismanagement, short of transparency in government operation and a monopoly short sighted government.

Malaysia experience “Boom” between 1987 and 1997. The influx of foreign direct investment was making the country the world leading semiconductor manufacturer. After 1995, the emerging country like China and Thailand has overtaken Malaysia as they could supply even cheaper labour and has a far bigger market. Malaysia is losing its competitive not only to those two but also to Vietnam, Indonesia, Cambodia etc.

Luckily Malaysia is well blessed with abundant of oil and gas resources after 1997 that sustained its economy until now. However the oil production is to be ceased soon although the gas might be able to sustain a bit longer.

Like the title of this entry, the country is totally unprepared to the new world order. The wealth accumulated in the booming decade has been misused to build the wall tallest building and other projects that are not of benefit to the people but instead to show off to the world.

The skill of the workforce is totally neglected by the government. Malaysia could not compete with the countries which offer lower skill and cheaper labour. On the other hand it is not match to developed countries that has a skilled workforce.

This is a cross road for Malaysia to reposition itself and heading towards a new direction in the ever changing and challenging global environment. The wisdom of the government and the rakyat will decide the future of this country.

Will,
I applaud ur last sentence. So r u coming back in the next elect to do ur duty as rakyat? Or just leave it to SOME of us to vote for the water filled brainy again?

No. I plan to take up Australian Citizenship soon (4 more months left).

Hope that you all will make a wise choice.

mygreatbuds said...

Will, by 4 months then your opinion is a foreign to us as Malaysian and please don't medlle with our local politics :) (I envy you lah ! but dun forget us here...make sure bring some foreign investment back here...like my granddad post money back to China..hehehe)

Malaysia as far compared to many other Asian countries are much much better off and probably that is why we have fail to compete on cheap labour as our salary now is at average better to some other countries.

Corruption is everywhere even in the most advance countries in the world.

However, we mudah lupa not only Melayu as I would like to extend comment from TDM.

Therefore, the wave for change is stronger and we must keep ourself objective serving the intent to improve our nation.

Even within the comments in many forum of discussions, there are still self interest a big lots. But that is the the rule of game, may I said human nature ? At times, in great countries, we may need to strong even a dictator but not a dictator @ you know what I mean to move the whole of people to move in tandem.

Kids chasing me to school already...need to go now...

Heroes, normally migrants will not forget their origin but their son/grandsons will especially if they are born in the new land.

Like our grandpa lor...from the mainland...they will always talk about their time and try to connect back to the ancestors...

One of the main reason I left is I see Malaysian tax payer paying RM 3for an item costing RM 1 in the market in my pass job. This is unsustainable. I lost my confident and faith to the country. So are most engineers who involved in this kind of projects and most of my mates have left the country.

I admire you courage and your patriotism. Malaysia is blesses to have descent and loyal citizens like you. I sincerely hope that you will make a change to the country.
