Till a week ago, I am still very much into putting the last touch to my new haven but now I am sitting in my dining hall putting up this blog...what a busy task as I believe all would agree especially when I have stayed in my previous house for six years with a wife and 2 kids. Still, I have 15-20% of my home contents still laying at the "old" house.
Moving, carrying, transporting, rearrangement had been the default mode for the last 7 days especially the first 3 days. The pain in my both legs is much more than after playing a grueling 5 sets of squash (during younger days of course)...Sleeping is a luxury for the past 7 days as I have been waking up at 5.30 a.m eversince 1st May.
Coming to this new neighbourhood, about 15km from city centre...around the same distance as per my previous house except the later is in the West/South of Kuching and the former is at East/South. However, the time taken to travel from my new home to office will take about 25 minutes, longer by slightly 5 minutes as it is quite jam in the early hours around 6.30-8 am. After 8am, it will only take 15 minutes.
Why this neighbourhood ?... the main reason is to be closer with my relatives...as my brother is just about 3 km away and my sister-in-law is only a lane (500m away) in the same negihbourhood (Heroes is staying just across the river, before the bridge...easier to get lift to airport if needed..:) ) Or may be just want to upgrade to a Semi-D from a terrace corner...
******
Hey...as my house is located in Kota Samarahan, near border to Kuching City...so my MP now is Datuk Seri Sulaiman, son of CM instead of Datuk Yong Khoon Seng, both of BN. Need to change my polling address leh...
****
House warming soon ? A question need to be thoroughly thought before answering. However, I will have my legion brothers/sisters to my house for our May Rosary and probably also inviting my parish priest to do the house blessing together sometime this month.
Hey...Still recall that someone reminded me about inviting CM & S to attend...yes, it would wonderful if they can be present...as his son is my MP now...:)

Congratulations MGB for moving to a new house. Hei ! I can smell the nippon paint lah!!
One thing that you have forgotten to put in your posting, that is the PHOTOS OF YOUR NEW HOUSE. Yours sincerely is especially keen to see the house and hope you can make my dream come true.
Hhmmm....you have more than 1 solid reason of moving to a new area. With the siblings around, it will be easier for you especially you need them for a favor.
Heroes, now you have a new neighbour, don;t you think that the air is getting a big warmer than before??
MGB, finally you had moved to your new house after months of getting all the necessary things to be done but of course i knew that some of them were not come with your expectation and timing too...anyway, the real thing now is that you are in your new house...
About your pain in your both legs, i have a recommendation and your 'dalian' friends would be most greatful and happy to see again after so many time of calling, reminding etc....don't you think so?
Hey, MGB, when you mentioned "Heroes is staying just across the river", people who doesn't know would easily confuse that our houses are somewhere around the kampung area....hahaha...which need to use sampan instead if cars....
Joe, definately the air around my area is warmer than before but also thiner that before as more people sharing the same air....hahaha....
House warming.....yeah i am the one who reminded you to invite our Pehin & co to be present at your house.....can make it materialise?
Congratulation. I have been working in that area between 2002 - 2006 being involved in the construction of UNIMAS permanent campus and SIMC.
There are some good laksa around there like at fat cat and foody goody. Are they still there?
Terima Kasih for your wishes...
The air here is very cooling...I have to admit after week staying...I have been trying to adjust the temperature of my aircon...guess what I am setting at 25 degree celcius and still very cold...tonight I will try 26 degree celcius..
One reasoning I could say is that my neighbouring is still beside virgin jungle and most of the units are still vacant...thus less warming activity.
Will, Laksa at Fat Cat or Foody Goody is just moderate...you must try at Kopi Hui, the best of all so far...
Joe, I do agree with you about the good smell...as it is most glaring when I went back to my old house last weekend to clear further...I do felt indifference. New thing does make the difference.
Mei Lan Mei Lan, wo I ni (background mandarin song playing)...
Heroes, you good friend still pestering me...can you ask her to stop calling but make arrangement with you...afterall you are in KL and I learnt that they have real connection in KL.
After good rest for the last few days, I am better and am looking forward to secure my lost grounds in my business.
MGB, this is something that I learn from the air-cond man. To maintain the consumption of electricity at low level, it is advisable to set the temperature at 24 or 25 celcius. Anything beyond that will consume more electricity.
William, you are an engineer and please comment.
"Wo ten zhe ni hui lai....2x.." (background mandarin song sang by my dalian friend).....
Normally at home in Kuching, I shall set my air con temperature at 23 celcius and shall off it when i am about to sleep.........
But now in KL, in my room, I set at 16 celsius....hahah......don't get me wrong, I am not taking advantage lar.......as the air cond is due for servicing and will only cold for 15 mimutes...... after that have to off and on again in order to get cold air........ :-(
Setting the temperature at a higher temperature will cause the thermostat to cut off the compressor more frequently. 25 degree is a comfortable temperature. A higher or lower temperature are not comfortable.
If you set the temperature to between 16-20 degree, I believe the room temperature will never ever reach that value and this will get the compressor to turn on all the time and hence you have pay a higher electricity bill and your compressor might not last as long due to overloading.
Malaysia is an extremely humid country with avarage humidity higher than 90%. The compressor is working harder to remove the humidity known as latend heat than cooling the room down.
If you stand outside the house where your compressor is placed, you could feel all the heat that is removed from your house. By cooling your house or office, you are contributing to global warming.
Houses build in Malaysia are not insulated. A double brickwall and insulated ceiling space will keep the outside heat away and you spend less energy to cool down the house. I think you all experience in the afternoon time, the upstair is as least 5 degree hotter than the downstair. There is no insulation being applied at the roof void. The only protection is the refelctive aluminium sheet.
Insulation material can be rock wool and even shredded recycle paper. By filling the roof void and ceiling void with insulation will keep your house cool from the hot afternoon sun.
Why not using recycle shredded paper to start a new business which will cut down the energy bill and save the environment? Trust me, it works.
Will, thanks for your detail explanation.
I have actually reset the temperature to 25 degree (if fact 26 is still very cooling).
William, you really have a good knowledge of the air-cond and stuff like that. The sharing has enlightened me much.
So, what I learnt from the air-cond man is true, i.e. 24 or 25 celcius is an ideal temperature in order to save electric bill. As per your explanation, it has got to do with the compressor cause when the compressor is on, it starts to consume electricity.
MGB and Heroes, the 2 of you must miss each other like crazy! One moment I heard MGB singing "Mei Lan Mei Lan, wo I ni" and the next moment heroes sang "Wo ten zhe ni hui lai....2x.." Is there any explanation for the above???
Buddies, you have to apply to "let go" in your current situation!!!haha....
William, thank you for your detailed explanation.
Joe, misunderstanding could result anything to be happened..... The songs we sang were for our 'Dalian' friends as they are going to miss us for not visit them....
Heroes, I don;t quite understand of what you are saying ?
Who are these "Dalian" friends are you refering too??
Joe,
Come to KCH and we shall be more than happy to show u around. Many sisters here now. hehe!
William, nice knowledge abt air-cond. Will think abt the insulation.
MGB, new house must have house warming => BBQ lah if the weather permits, i mean not too hot weather!!!
